Ever since I saw epitome spelled “appitimy” on this board, I’ve begun to question the present day value of an Illinois degree. Cringeworthy.
Lol, well I'm pretty sure we only had to take one RHET class as a gen ed for the engineering curriculum and I knew a bunch of engineering kids that couldn't write.

Also, I had a great time at school but I don't really think any university is really that rigorous for undergrad aside from a couple classes and those were mostly physics related.

5. Illinois doesn't have a true center, a rim protector. Are we down to Ugonna Onyenso (Kentucky) or Nick Pringle (Alabama)? Do any of you know of any other transfer centers that we potentially might be interested in? 4. I'd say Illinois is set with power forwards. (I know, we shouldn't think of players anymore as positions 1 through 5.) Carey Booth, Morez Johnson, and Ben Humrichous are all good players. (And Jason Jakstys could develop into a CoHawk type of stretch 4 in the future.) 3. We have some solid wings/small forwards in Tre White, Jake Davis, and Ty Rodgers. (Although the 6'6" Rodgers could play some minutes at PF also.) Is there enough scoring from that group? 6'7" F Trazarien White from UNC Wilmington looks like a great target, but his skills might overlap with the "other" White (Tre) already on the team. 2A. We don't have a scoring SG, a shooter, on the roster. Who's left out there? Khalif Battle of Arkansas (visiting Kansas State) is one, and TJ Bamba of Villanova (visiting Kentucky) is another. A couple of combo guards that could fill that shooter/scorer spot are 6'4" Chaz Lanier from North Florida and 6'3" Jalen Blackmon of Stetson. Does anyone know of other potential transfers for this role? 2B. I'm warming to G/F Desmond Claude of Xavier as a possible transfer to Illinois. He's a 6'6" sophomore who averaged 16.6/4.2/3.2 this past season. Although he shot an abysmal 23.9% on 3s, he apparently was playing through an injury to his shooting elbow, with said injury now having been repaired by a medical procedure. He can play the point or the wing, and he's said to be a very good defender; one with 2 years of eligibility left. I'd be happy if the Illini could get this young man from the transfer portal. (I think he might be visiting Texas Tech.) 1. We have our starting point guard, Kylan Boswell. Assuming they both stay, I'm guessing that Gibbs-Lawhorn and Moretti will serve as backup point guards to Boswell. There is some opinion out there that Illinois might decide to add transfer PG Posh Alexander of Butler (formerly at SJU). He's a very good floor general and passer, plus he apparently is a great defender. He'd be a good add if Underwood and staff decide to go that route.
I actually went back and took the time to read it given all the smart remarks.

Good summary as to where we stand, gaps yet to fill and possible targets and rationale on some targets.

It got me thinking and excited.

Frankly, given the complete reconstruction of the roster I am fascinated to see Brad’s final vision and how he does with it in the next two seasons.

The portal has afforded an immediate view of the strategy behind roster construction, effectiveness of developing players and how it translates to team performance. Oh, and an idea of how much is costs.

Everything is very transparent now. I love it, including NIL.

Do you. A really good high school team would.

Bad English is far more worser than badder spelling. Typos happen. Or is It Typoes? I think not.

I edited my post before I got "likes". I'm so soggy. Carry on, and thanks.

I don't rely on spell-check or internet; I use a good old American Heritage Dictionary or AP Stylebook from journalism days.

As always, Go Illini!

Is there a primer on how the main AAU programs like/dislike us? I didn't remember the ins and outs of mean streets vs fire vs wolves, etc. is it a good thing that this top 15 phenom from Kenwood is with Mac Irvin fire?

And not only paragraphs and punctuation. When I was in seventh grade I once pronounced epitome as epi-toam; and Yosemite as Yose-might. I was quickly corrected by teacher and somehow past English class. I went for broke and learned; I had nothing to loose.
It's really not uncommon among people who read a lot. There are a lot of people who have never heard the word spoken, and assume in their head that it's pronounced a certain way when they see it on the page.
My wife is a nurse, and I tend to read a lot of medical reports for my work. Some words we pronounce differently, and I'm sure she's right, as she's heard them from doctors. I've only read it on the page.

How about when you saw bidness degree.
How about when you saw bidness degree.
"bidness" (bid•nez)
a: the act of getting down in pursesuit (purse•suit) of highly talented basketball players, "hum•dingers", of all sizes, origins, and talents while emptying the large purse of shopping resourcess whilst dressed in a track suit.

A new word necessitated by NIL. I have no confuciusness over or under this matter!
