Geeze… so many people here see the frame of a house under construction and say “that won’t keep the rain out!!!”

Let the workers do their thing. If come November, the frame is still all that’s standing, THEN feel free to panic.
Concur, let's go! Just a few short days ago we had one of the top recruiters in college basketball join us again, a miracle in itself. This was a decision that appeared to be embraced by almost every Illini fan. So, we should ask - what happened to all that positivity so the staff can now be allowed to work out any issues in their way and timeframe to create an elite roster? They are focusing on the solutions, whether some want to believe it or not. It will happen and things will be fine with lots of booms to follow.

I beg to differ All things being equal he would have chosen Illinois. Looks like he made the right choice though Kansas is light years ahead of us.
How so? And by light years, you must mean they're destined for Top-10 KP next season and we're destined for 77th or so?

Kylan Boswell isn't out there going door to door looking for an offer one penny higher.

Players are dealing with the same fog of war our staff is. What is their value? What school will make good on their promises and maximize their take? Really hard to tell. "Recruiting" in the classical sense is not dead, far from it.

If Storr really wanted to be here he would have taken yes for an answer from our staff. No shots at the kid, he did well for himself, but the fact remains.

Let's remember we just had an elite 8 team made mostly from transfers. Man it was a blast to watch. I do trust BU and staff and expect great things again.

With that said, Indy - who do you expect will be our 5? I will miss Dain & Colman, and don't see who can fill those "big" shoes. Any updates or names to watch?

Not sure I understand what you're saying ?

I'm saying AJ doesn't love the game ... He doesn't care about winning ... He cares about himself and getting paid ...

If you think Brad doesn't care about winning ??? I don't know what to tell ya ...

Nah I didn't say that at all I love Brad and know he wants to win. My point was AJ cant flirt with other jobs to get a pay bump from where he is at if the place he is currently at cant pay him what his asking price is (Brads agent has done this every off season). Only way to make more is leave.

I'm not comparing AJs want to win vs Brads want to win I'm just saying AJ only has one move to better himself on that front. If his family thought all those moves after one year at each place bettered them financially god bless em thats the new game.

... then it jumps out, man his whole offensive game is shots the numbers say you shouldn't take.
Collegiate basketball viewers say that all the time. At the next level, it is important to be able to make those very shots at a decent clip. Yes, 3s and dunks and free throws are best. But not being able to score anywhere in between LONG and SHORT doesn't cut it at the next level.

It's gonna be super interesting with him.

It immediately jumps out, man he's talented, and then it jumps out, man his whole offensive game is shots the numbers say you shouldn't take.

Can he change?

Defensively and rebounding wise ... His potential is through the roof ... That's his key to the next level ...

He can get 8-10 PPG with ease ... But if he can be a consistent elite rebounder and guard the other teams best perimeter player ...

You can play in the NBA 10-15 years doing that ...

Lots of moving pieces ... Keep an eye on the portal the next 2 days ...

And as always ... Keep an eye on the spreadsheet ... 👀

Shoutout @soupy17 for all the work on that ...

So does anyone have an idea of the number of players that will pull out of the NBA draft (do to either not being drafted or being 2nd or 3rd round) and will enter the portal??? That could have some significant implications

They are number 1 right now and we toiling grounding in the upper 60's. To me that is significant. You got to pay to play with the superstars unfortunately funds seem to be tight. You either talk it or be it seems like we like to talk about it until it is time to put that money where the mouth is

The NBA is all threes and shots in the paint now. There is no mid range game anymore.

I know we've been told to be patient but it becomes a little difficult when Michigan gets two top centers in the portal and we have yet to land one. Why do we always seem to be waiting till the last minute for some of our top transfers to land, if they land at all.

When was the last time our recruiting rankings looked this good?

T White #35
K Boswell #25
T Rodgers #55
C Booth # 55
M Johnson #29

I’d leave too if I was only a top 100ish guy. Thats just not good enough to play for the Illini anymore.

Don’t know what y’alI smokin’, but I think we can win a lot of games with this team right now. Go out and get another stud or 2 and we can easily repeat 2023-2024.

Sorry, Indy, you've got a lot of revisionist history here. You (and other insiders) teased a lot of names that didn't pan out. The few of us questioning whether Storr was an EDG were widely criticized. Now, you're saying he isn't, even though we went hard after him. I'm with you on Tre White. lots of potential. But it's funny after we got him at least one insider claimed that he was going to be 5th or 6th guy on the team and we'd be getting guys better than him.

We're being told we have money to compete with just about anyone. But we're not getting our top targets. For many people that's gotta suggest that there are unidentified issues.

As I've noted, you can't really judge this whole thing until about February when you finally figure out if a team is actually going to gel. So I'm going to be patient, because that's what I've learned watching basketball for a few decades.

But people on here preaching patience while at the same time demanding or giving tidbits of behind the scenes gossip are kinda being hypocritical.

rant over.
