But in fact, power-ball in the paint is still important in the NBA. Sure, 3's are more important and so are slashing drives, but watching a guy like Jokic reveals the amazing combination of finesse and brute power he (for example) uses as part of his complete offensive game. Watching Chet Holmgren block shots but also get tossed around like a rag doll last week is another example of how low-post power is still an important -- not even close to dominant, though -- part of the NBA game.As far as it being a “weakness” that he struggled to guard bulkier 5s on the block, he’s not being drafted to play 5 and NBA teams generally aren’t throwing the ball to bangers down low.
I would not blame him if he went for the BAG!hawkins with the dagger but imagine he comes back home for one more year. fingers crossed
No, I get that. I never doubted that he would put his name into the portal. Or even that it made some sense that he wouldn’t necessarily come back to Illinois.I think the big key is the NCAA transfer rules changing for grad transfers, which is what Coleman specifically references in his tweet.
All the angst on here about Coleman portaling (and people saying no chance) was before the NCAA approved the changes to their transfer rules that included that grad-transfers must be in the portal by 5/1 instead of being able to enter/transfer after the closing date.
To me, that's the key change in the last two weeks.
Booth may be playing on perimeter in a 5-out offense. But I will bet my beach house that he will be guarding the biggest opponent player most of his minutes. If Coleman does not want to guard the 5, no reason Booth doesn’t solve that.Booth did not come here to play the 5 ...
Morez does not work with Coleman IMO ... If we want to play like we did last year ...
Morez would be in more of the Dainja role ...

Everything's fine. Good night.
yep, kid doesn't belong as a 5 defensively and was best suited at the 4 (shoot, even at the 3 in some instances). Coleman playing the 5 got destroyed by big powerful post players, and often he looked disinterested in defending it. While I can't blame him, I think he did it to help the team, not himself. Though, I think the staff would ensure he doesn't have to play the 5 this year if he did come back.Honestly - going to disagree here ... I think that the way we played didn't allow Coleman to show off his defensive versatility ... It showed his weakness more than it did his strengths ...
That frustrated him this season ... It wasn't a secret ...

You might lose your beach house. No indication that Booth is a plus defender. Tall, but not much heft. He might foul out before he gets 20 minutes in.Booth may be playing on perimeter in a 5-out offense. That's why I said it depends on "need". In this age of CBB who knows if either of those two will still be here. And maybe Moretti will blow up like Podz. It's just a thought. I just thought it would be cool since it doesn't happen very often if at all. Also, I could be wrong but doesn't Boswell only have two years left whereas Moretti has three. So, two years honing his skills at a mid-major and then the third back. Again, just a thought. Is he going to be better than Boswell, or Fears? No
For me, personally, there is no player or combination of players that would make up for losing Hawk to another school. I doubt it'll happen, but we're also in a world where anything feels like it can and will happen.regardless of who we do or don't get in the portal it would be so so painful to see CH playing elsewhere in CBB next year and would represent either a clear misallocation of resources or the most definitive evidence yet that the NIL $ just isn't there for us
Is “Relax, lol” the new “Everything is fine. Good night?”
