Appreciate all the examples. I don’t understand it because it’s not fooling anyone who matters. Beyond calling a guy who is 6’11” a straight up 7’ and likewise with 5’11” guys it doesn’t make sense to me.

Yeah it is pretty annoying how much it varies but they tend to add an inch or two to a lot of guys. All the NBA combine stuff is in shoes. Here is some stuff from last year.

Coleman Hawkins measured in at 6'8.5 at the NBA combine and has been listed at 6'10.

Ryan Kalkbrenner measured in at 7'0.75 and is listed at 7'0.

Grant Nelson measured in at 6'10 and is listed at 6'10.

TSJ measured in at 6'5.5 and was listed at 6'6 while a bunch of other guys that measured in at the same height were listed at 6'7(Jalen Wilson was listed at 6'8).

Jarace Walker was 6'6.5 and listed at 6'8 for Houston.

You can look up the combine results from last year and compare them to what they're listed at but some guys are right on the dot while others get anywhere up to 2.5 extra inches.

I don't know if Illinois needs a 7 footer but they need a legitimate big guy with Ballo at IU and Goldin at Michigan.

Also, for the listed heights I was going by CBB reference. I've seen heights vary between sites and Nelson gets listed 6'11 on Alabama's page.
Not saying teams don’t exaggerate height but fwiw those NBA measurements are most definitely w/o shoes. They usually measure both but for some reason last year NBA only listed the without on their chart.

After cursory review it looks like the top “big“ guys have a baseline of 240 lbs, and 7’2” wingspan; heights vary. For example. Tschiebwe is 6’7.25 with a 7’3.5” wingspan.

The lead singer of R.E.M. (Michael Stipe) graduated from Collinville high school in Illinois and worked at the local waffle house. #funfac
This is Stipe’s senior pic at Collinsville. His sister attended U of I as well.

Secretly, I've never grown up as far as the Cubs of my childhood and youth are concerned. Heroes forever.
Same thoughts here but with Sandy Koufax and Joe Namath.

Yeah my bad. I meant to say all the measurements are without shoes. Just typed it the wrong way.

Humichrous is a big get. That gives us 5 quality transfers. And two quality guys remaining. I realize BU is not finished, but I like our lineup when we have Jake and Tre at the same time. Both have size and upsides. Tre is an active, explosive guy who can score from all three levels, and Jake is the lights out shooter from deep. Like one poster said, rebuilding years are fun, watching the mixing and matching and the blending. How will Booth fit? Ben? Morez? Nobody can say we won't have talent.

How do the games compare for our vertically gifted folks. Are Jake and Hamrighteous the shooters and sub for each other, and White and Booth the rebounders (not saying they can’t shoot) and sub for each other, and we need a 5 to guard to other teams mean big dude. I assume none of these guys would be in a traditional guard ball handling role.

I know I am oversimplifying positions and lineup combinations, but trying to understand who is similar to who.
