Not even close. He was 35th. Gotta move quickly. I recommend staking your claim by typing “stand by” THEN searching for your GIF and editing as needed. Even then, you’ve gotta be quick on the typing.
Good dang thing Brad can count cuz we can't!!😂😂😂😂😂

People on here need to just learn to be patient. We are blessed that the insiders give us a glimpse into who the staff is considering, but the downside is as soon as a name that has been mentioned commits elsewhere suddenly it is a disaster and we are going to be terrible. So many factors go into if we get a player or not, and even the blue bloods miss on plenty of targets. The time to judge the roster is AFTER it is full, not before we even know who will be on it.

Just some quick thoughts. Addition of Ben Humrichous feel like it added a floor, possilby NCAA team now.

Also addition of several SG/Wings to portal, beleive we can add a high major player (12-15PTs/game, 35%+3's, 45%+overall), question is defense and passising.

Achor (had 28 pts, 8 rebs against KU in NCAA) from Samford looks good, but doesn't seem big enough to go against the true 7 foot centers. European centers have concerns about pass competition and will they be in it for a fulll season. Cisse also looks comparable to Oseodor (Kentucky) but some raised have alledged elgiblity issues at Illinois. Rutgers Olugyu?? also out there. St. Johns was early lead but they signed someone, looking more like UNC though.

Why are you guys worried about losing bench players? Our transfers are better than those players. Just need a couple more starters.

I'm not worried, but if you gave me a choice to have Dainja back on the roster right now, it's an easy choice. The roster needs starters and bench players, so the team role is a moot question (from a fan's perspective).

This patience admonition is funny.

On one hand, many people are preaching that we be patient about results. on the other hand, within this very post you say we are blessed with insiders who give us a glimpse into who we are targeting, which is the exact opposite of patience in that regard.

So why is it wrong to be "impatient" about results but fine to be impatient about all the aspects of recruiting right up to those results?

But a couple people yesterday claimed there were ZERO negative posts about our portal recruiting and instead it is all posts complaining about those posts, which again, do not exist on this message board at all whatsoever.

Right now we have the 11th ranked transfer class. Great! The problem is we have kept almost no one from last years team. If we went into the season with the current roster +Dainja, Goode, Hansberry, Harris and Butler I would be feeling pretty good about where we stand. Hopefully the guys we get to fill out the roster look better than that group that we lost.
won't be able to truly compare former team vs current team - but as of right now, my vote is that the current team beats the former team 9 out of 10 games.

Yes. It is impossible to really have a feel for next year's team yet with major pieces still outstanding, as varied as battle tested 5th year seniors and teenage Euros who have never played in the US. We're just going to have to wait.

But I think fitting it into the frame of "swinging and missing" and blue bloods missing on people is looking at it too much like HS recruiting of a decade ago.

This is a totally new world with different dynamics and rhythms to it.

What is true at the very least is that there has been a failure of expectations management by our insiders, who have been overselling our portal prospects every step of the way. Which is fine, we should all understand that stuff as hype and spin and take it with a grain of salt anyhow, it's still very valuable and interesting to have a window into the staff's thinking even through orange-tinted glass.

The real question is where we actually sit in the marketplace and how that lines up with our staff's strategy. That is ultimately a much bigger issue than just next year's team. No reason to freak out about that yet (we're doing fairly well!), but an important thing to keep an eye on.

This is a rationale approach for fandom but this is a message board. If you want patience and you want to wait to comment after everything is done, this is not the place for you.

No offense to you personally, but the comments and replies keep repeating the obvious in a steady stream of Loyalty anxiety. Brad has revived this program from the ash heap and has earned my trust. at this point, I only wish more of the negative posters shared that faith in his recruiting abilities.
is that any different from the constant string of I trust the staff posts? We made an Elite 8 last year?

I'd rather see a post with some substance other than a dismissal that simply says, I'm sure things will be just fine. What is the point of a message board if we're all just going to say, don't worry Brad is the greatest coach, he'll fix it.

Reality is, this year is an experiment in my mind. People like to say, well we brought in a lot of guys last year. True, but over 55% of our points, rebounds, and assists came from returning players. The 3rd team All American that was the driving force of the team was a returning player. People like to compare Humrichous to Domask, Domask had a much MUCH better resume than Humrichous.

We need to replace everything. We need a new leader, we need everyone to gel, they need to learn the offense and defense, the need to get along with the staff. Everything. And there's almost no experienced players to help them do it. This isn't filling in some holes, this is a complete overhaul. I've consistently said I'm waiting to see who is on the full roster before I say too much, but I certainly understand the anxiety of others at this very moment. And they are posting at this very moment, posts will change as events change.

You know it is not that BU is doing poorly in the portal or anything wrong at all. It is just more that the game is now a race to flip the best chest pieces to you board as rapidly as possible.

i get it if you say under 40, but for those of us in our 60’s and beyond we remember Deon, and Quinn Richardson, and Doug Altenburger, and Eddie Johnson walking senior night.

For me Deon will always be the most special after all he went through and is probably the greatest Illini of all time. It is just sad to see that era end.

Yes before you jump me, I want to win a championship, just wish it was done the way it was 20 years ago.
Name checks out....

No offense taken. To be clear, BU took a terrible situation and brought us back to life. None of this(at least on my end) is any sort of low blow at BU.

That said, I think the portal is beneficial in some areas, but it's completely ridiculous in others. Our approach is to depend on it. If Ty finishes his next two years here, he and Coleman will be the only two players who've stuck around for 4 years. Is that sustainable?

When we(any school) takes the approach and your season next year literally revolves 100% around transfers, the portal and NIL.....there's pressure. We still have, what, three/four more positions to fill? The daily traffic on these threads is off the charts because of the above.

As each coveted(or potentially covered) player comes off the board, it's going to create a "what's next" thought process. When attention turns to going across the pond, it's really going to create content.

In the "good ole days", these threads would revive around high school recruiting, AAU, summer leagues, etc, with eyes on three or four players. Now, we're eyeing 50 players and it's impossible to keep up.

I don't view people being negative or untrusting. We're in a completely different world now and everyone is rolling with it with their own thoughts because there's no reason to be negative of positive at this point. All we can do is discuss what we know and see at this very second and at this very second...we have major holes. I don't think that's an unreasonable take.

Your point is valid though.

Are you saying our current team of 5 transfers, 2 vets and 2-3 walk-ons would beat our Elite 8, top five Illini team of the past 25 years, 9 out of 10 times?

I don't know that I would even say that if we got David Jones, PJ Hall and the best Euro out there. Maybe I'm misunderstanding....
