I'm pretty much with you. The universities are prostituting their names. It was always 90% BS, now it's 100%.
The way baseball does it is much more logical. Kids can go to a minor league or go to college and play.
That said, while it's the way it is, I hope we clean up!
The best realistic, possible dream scenario at the moment (assuming Coleman is gone) is we land: Tomislav, Egor, Poplar, Lanier to set up:
Guards: Kylan, Poplar, DGL
Wings: Tre, Egor, Lanier, Ty
Small Ball/Stretch Bigs: Morez, Hum, Booth
True 5s: Tomislav
Rotation players but limited minutes: Davis, Jakstys (who should redshirt if this plays out)
Where would this rank preseason? Probably top 10-20 imo

Would be quite ok for Chaz to be our 2 guard if Demin falls through. A little short at 6’4” but man he can fill it up. Still hopeful for both Euros though. Expecting a big day tomorrow!

Thanks for posting, the best video of him I've seen so far. He has a quick and effortless release on 3s. Looks very promising if we land him.
6’4 is not short for a college SG. Not at alll.
I think some changes are coming, like possibly multiyear deals with buyout options. This is the wild wild west right now, we have the Covid 5th year, multiple transfers w/out sitting out and NIL. I don't want college bball to go the way of a minor league system. I think in the end you would get two products that aren't overly popular.

I don't think getting all 3 of Lanier, Poplar AND Demin is realistic. Even 2 of the 3 would be an amazing accomplishment if the staff could pull it off, in my opinion (and even that is probably borderline unrealistic - those are high-profile gets).
And while I have no idea where such a team would be ranked in the preseason, we'd have a very high ceiling if the team was able to put it all together. Might have to work through some stuff and adjust as the season goes, but still - big upside if it ever clicks.

Getting 2/3 of Demin, Poplar, and Lanier is in no way unrealistic. Will we get them, will we not...is another question but that isn't even borderline unrealistic imo. That honestly should/might be the expectation given the fact that we, right now stand as the favorite to land Demin, and have by no means added an elite wing and that those guys are for sure on our radar as one of our main targets. Although I personally don't think it's out of the question, getting 3/3 might be a little unrealistic but...I mean...that's why it's dream scenario.
