To re-open this discussion on Demin being a PG or a wing…

He very well could be a PG, but I said being 6’8” usually equates to being a wing..

Yes, you have Magic and I think someone mentioned someone else too, (and I’ll throw in Luka) but I also remember Tatum being called a PG in HS and even Jereme. Jimmy Butler calls himself a PG. Most of these guys can play point, but usually are put at a wing position. Even Lebron…I don’t know whether to call him a point or a wing…he basically plays point but is usually called a SF.

I’d bet a few beach houses that if he comes here, Boswell plays the 1 and Demin plays the wing.

Does it matter what “position” you say he is playing? Does he have the handles to play as a lead guard? Can he pass? Does he initiate the offense? Can he play off ball screens? You haven’t had to pay much attention for the last several years to know that Brad doesn’t care about these labels. Plus, ‘05 team had 3 “point guards” that frequently all played at the same time….

its all about match ups. our offense during the last month when we were super efficient was
exactly about match ups, who switched and who could take who to the basket, down low or
kick it to a shooter. Boswell can bring it up against anybody, but it might not be the match
up we want against a particular team to initiate the offense.

Yep. Space the floor, and then either exploit favorable matchups or try to create them with pick and roll. If you get them and teams start doubling or rotating to compensate, make good, decisive reads and passes for open 3s. (Easier said than done, of course)

(We ran relatively little pick and roll last year I think mostly because Marcus didn’t need it. If PnR resulted in a switch, he would have usually ended up with a big on him, and it was usually better to just keep a guard on him and go right into exploiting that matchup with booty ball.)

Ben Simmons is another recent example of a really tall PG

Can I say I miss TSJ? I do. While we will be good, the excitement level can’t be replicated
