You'll start to hear how "Illinois doesn't need or want a 12th or 13th man". Total BS and spin doctoring.

The reality is that it's hard to fill out a roster in this current environment with guys who fit. Kansas couldn't get to 13 and they're Kansas.

I worked at a KFC for two weeks in high school, until I walked out after getting yelled at for refusing to pick the roaches out of a box of sporks. But man, I sure ate more than my measly salary’s worth of chicken littles (dipped in gravy) for those glorious two weeks.
That sounds awful. Yikes. Who was your manager?…and to say nothing of the health code violations. Good God.

Yeah it makes sense. 13 roster spots was built for a totally different time.

When it was valuable to be on a top tier team even if that meant riding the bench. So freshman would come into a high major program knowing they’re filling up the last few roster spots. Today, kids would rather play a level down, get playing time, then transfer up to a top tier team when they’re ready.

I'd prefer a full roster, to have D1-level players (even if developmental) on the scout team instead of a bunch of 6'2" walkons.

Norlander said it's more likely Coleman returns to CBB than not. Obviously we know he's not coming back here. Just hope to see him stay in the draft. Seeing him play for another school - that'll hurt.

Really great sign that Demin is visiting. Makes sense, that at a younger age, his parents would want to come see and learn more about where their son will be playing thousands of miles away. Let's hope his parent's are blown away by our beautiful campus, and maybe Demin enjoys some of the other fine scenery ;)

They also still need to give up one scholarship over the next two seasons per their self-imposed sanctions from the FBI case but I do agree with your overall point.

If we need somebody, I wouldn't mind continuing my education on a basketball scholarship. My cardio isn't great, but I'm tall and strong. I'd be a real EDG who would battle. Brad, if you need a scouting report, I'm like a less skilled, slightly shorter, less athletic Larry Bird.
You'd get zero complaints from me about playing time.
growth plates might be open btw. Also, neck is not abnormally long.

That's the point. You're not gonna get P4 level players to happily play on the scout team. They would rather get actual playing time at a lower level and then transfer up for a bag. With 13 scholarship guys and playing MAYBE 9 deep, those guys better be ROCK SOLID in acceptance of their roles or you're asking for locker room issues. And crazy parent issues.

I always looked forward to break at KFC and some chicken littles. Hated filtering grease time.

Already heard Brad say it when he was being interviewed about Big T. It’s the one that starts out with him talking about Humrichous having a nice package (I’m a child I know).

Don’t recall his name, but I will never forget the manager yelling at me and calling me a “P****” for not wanting to pick roaches out from the sporks, which is just a bizarre thing to call a teenage girl. Different times back then, for sure! Just to haunt you further… if you think the spork roaches were bad, you really don’t wanna know what the cooks were doing with the ones they caught. 😱

B10 transfer portal rankings. Our turnover does not seem to be extraordinary. We did start 4 senior/grad last year (TSJ, Coleman, Quincy and Marcus)
JMO- If Chester had stayed then Sencire and Amani would have as well. MSU and Purdue are fighting the portal. Should be interesting if they can stay sucessful Zagging when everybody else Ziggs.

It's funny how much variance there is between these "best transfers" lists.
I agree with you; it is interesting to see the differences.

I said last year (after Domask showed he was an all conference player) that Brad’s strongest attribute as a coach is his ability to evaluate talent. Plus I think the staff as a whole is absolutely tremendous at developing talent.
