For some of you think of it this way….is Egor really worth 2mil…yes he’s really good but at 2mil? When they can get someone just as good or better for less, you go that route….and save some resources for someone else or other pieces later down the line…😉

Kadary Richmond who many have as the #1 transfer this year ... Reportedly got $1.5 million to go to St. John's ... Storr got slightly less than that ... Nelly got $1.2 at Arkansas and Ballo got $1.1 at Indiana ...

TJ would have probably got that at minimum and we would have paid it ... It's TJ ... He's an All American ... He's proven it ...

Is Egor worth $2 million ? I don't think so ...

Watkins, Kelly… decent players on absolutely awful teams. Extremely disappointing if that’s the best Illinois can do. But that’s what you get if you repeatedly refuse to pay top dollar for top talent.

I still see a team chock full of third options.

It’s fair to say “this price is unreasonable” in a vacuum here and there, but it seems like Illinois ends up concluding that every single time it’s in the mix for a game changer.

I mean if that's what the market is and what the other power conference teams are paying then that's the new going rate. You're either going to need to pony up or settle for guys that aren't as highly regarded and hope you can develop them.

I think the Illini have a lot of talent and depth but it they're serious about trying to compete for a national championship they are missing a blue-chip player. You're not going to replace TSJ but all the blue bloods are getting better and deeper so you're going to need to add to compete.

But now we are to believe Kansas not only changed their mind about the $1MM but actually decided to give him more…? That doesn’t pass the smell test to me.

While this process is not transparent, it sure looks like the market has changed dramatically. So I don't know who should be getting paid more than Shannon, but it appears to play this game with the best that will need to happen.

We've seen claims that we're a top ten team when it comes to NIL. Right now it looks like we might be outside of the top 10 not because we have less but others have more.

I imagine 2 things are true. The insiders get good information AND that information is potentially outdated within hours as player demands change and new teams enter the bidding.

Storr proved he was worth the money imo, why didn’t we pay it? We wouldn’t have to be worrying about what Egor wants?? All offseason I’ve read money isn’t an issue. What’s the goal here? Is it to win a national title? Maybe we should’ve prioritized dudes that can help us get a title this year instead of guys like Booth.
