There feels like a massive movie/hustle play here. Create fake website for 18 year old Italian PG who is the next Jordan. Send out feelers to colleges. Some desperate college bites and sends money and contract. Missouri is now scammed out of $1M.

Whose with me on this? I've got great video editing skills.

I'm 50/50 asking this earnestly and tongue in cheek- we added a true point guard and a true big, how many absolute core #1 holes did we have this off season ?
Well, a true big only became a hole because of our portal losses. Fair enough on the PG point, though that was an empty slot last year.

But it's not hindsight bias here, we need a big scoring guard/wing, that's been the focus from day 1. Storr, then various plans B.

So now all the players who were just upside bench pieces when it was "positive" to still be in the Church of Denzel are being reimagined into stars now that that's what being "positive" requires. The ret-conning gets so tiresome.

We need a big time perimeter bucket-getter, as we have the whole time.

I struggle a bit with Indiana and Mike Woodson out-portaling us this year.

Indy, you mentioned a transfer that committed may open the recruiting back up, what are the chances that play is Richmond? I know we were courting both he and Demin at the same time, and I was wondering if he committed to STJ when he heard Demin was close to signing with us. I know one of the insiders said it was a first come first serve with those two. Now that Demin is done, could Richmond reconsider?

Post #338 in the previous thread is what I was referring to.
aj storr part 3...?

Dee Brown was definitely an alpha-- and all the others were really solid veterans who could lead when needed. A truly well- balanced GREAT team who lost two games all year-- and shouldn't have lost any!

Considering that he is being mocked as a lottery pick after playing overseas, I'm pretty sure he's set in that regard. Scouts will find you no matter where you play.
Yep. And he would be playing against teams like Kansas during the year so he’s got plenty of games where he’ll be on TV.

The days of assistant coaches that are great recruiters are dead. Assistant coaches that actually can coach and game plan should be the premium. To get players all you need is cash, not relationships.
It may seem like that, but that's not completely true imho... see our C signing also Hurley comments immediately following Championship. Things are changing fast, but I don't think that's the case yet

They're ranked 2nd overall & 1st in the B1G. I like our coach way better, but as much as I hate to say it IU is doing work in the portal.

Remains to be seen and maybe IU will be really good next year, but I still wonder about roster fit. I just think there is a lot of redundancy.

Carlyle and Rice are both proven double digit P5 scorers, and both are young so will likely improve. But they seem like basically the same player. 6’3 ish drivers who are below average 3 pt shooters. Can you play them together? I guess. Can either play with Galloway? Sure. But do either of them give you something that Galloway currently doesn’t? Not sure.

I love Renu, think he’s a great 4 and can definitely be a small ball 5. But Mbako’s best position is probably 4 and Ballo can only play 5. Mbako can stretch the floor but not sure you want him as your 3, don’t think he was great there last year. And all 3 of those guys are going to clog up driving lanes for Carlyle and Rice. Goode provides floor spacing but who are you sitting? Do you want Goode guarding 2s?

I do think IU will be a lot better and are for sure a tourney team. They’ve definitely upgraded their backcourt. But I wonder if their best 5 man rotation is different from their best 5 players, and that to me is a problem.

We may not have gotten the sexiest pickups but all of our pieces complement each other much better IMO. Still need a wing. But I’m optimistic we can get a replacement level+ wing after all is said and done, and we might not need much else to be honest. Positional size to hunt mismatches and shooting all over the floor.

The numbers aren’t gaudy, but Mongolian Mike is very talented. Great passer at 6’8. He’s a point guard. Made strides as a scorer last year too. Potential NBA guy.
