well, we don't really know that it's 100% accurate. so much of what has come out over time has been unrealistic. When it turns out wrong, the people suggest that things changed. But we don't know if it changed or if the info was not accurate.

The first Boswell recruitment was a great example. We had insiders telling us that the trip to Arizona was meaningless and that he was ours. After we lost out, it became more obvious that we weren't getting correct information about how the Boswell family was feeling.

None of this bothers me a bit. I take all that stuff with a grain of salt for all the obvious reasons. I will say though that the certainty with which things are presented is definitely part of what feeds some discontent.

If we get Watkins- this offseason would be a Homerun- we’d be better than if we had gotten Storr or even Egor this year

If we miss on him or he stays in the draft but we get Poplar or Kaluma level than it’s still an A in my mind- we’d have a balanced, deep team, just no superstar

If we miss out on all of the above and end up with Monsanto or someone like that as our last piece then I would give the offseason a C, we could be good, but would need a lot of guys to take a big step forward- we’d be starting Ty and Tre in that scenario

I would say Underwood has earned a B given the volume, give the number of players he had to replace
If we get an elite wing in the next 4 week, perhaps an A-
if the best we can get are players the calaiber of Sharavjamts, perhaps B-/C+
So many variables influencing where a players eventually lands, hard to place all the responsiblity on the coach and staff.

Another "this".

Can we all just stop wondering what the coaches can...and will...do with these guys? If they come in with the right attitude...and I'm assuming after Skyy, Mayer, and Jayden Epps, our coaches have a MUCH better idea of what that attitude is....they are absolutely going to improve here.

I have literally zero doubts that every one of our transfers will be better here. How much better is obviously the million dollar question.

That's also why they play the games....and we tune in......to watch and root for it all to come together.

And then complain about it in the game/postgame threads.✌️:p
I can't say for sure when they started doing it, but I heard Brad say that during the recruitment process, they have guys do a personlity test, and they only continue to pursue guys that score high on them. I can say that I have instituted some of these tests during the hiring process at my office, and it is very interesting what the results say about people.

So far, they have been very accurate at predicting how people will behave and act in different situations. You can input the traits that you are looking for in an employee / player (no intentional commentary on the NIL environment :p), and the algorithm will compare how closely said person matches what you are looking for.

This being said, it adds a piece to the puzzle of who we are high on versus who we may back off of indeterminate of talent. We may choose to add a guy who may be less highly thought of from a purely basketball talent perspective, but is an EDG, as opposed to the opposite. Perhaps 2022 taught the staff lessons about potentially cancerous personalities.

If you think personality tests are anything but useless, I have a bag of cat feces I’d like to sell your business.

if you act fast, I’ll throw in a “Ty Rodgers is developing a jump shot this off-season” t-shirt.

I don’t know anything about personality tests, but it sounds like you should hit Brad up too. Might be some more money to be made there for you 👍.

All of the coaches you named have made final fours. Multiple coaches on that list have won national championships. All of them have won multiple conference titles. When Brad enters that territory he'll have earned more deference. He hasn't yet.
Always moving the goal post, are we as a fanbase. Last season, everyone was saying, "he needs to make it past the first weekend, then he will earn my confidence." We make the Elite 8. Now the same crowd is moving the goal post to the next weekend. Just be real with yourself and the rest of the fanbase on here: Brad Underwood is never going to have your confidence or trust.

I hope the tests answer the following in a roundabout way.

1. Are you a team player?
2. How many Monster energy drinks do you consume daily?
3. Are your parents crazy (especially mom)?
4. Are your handlers crazy?
5. Are you crazy?

I’m sure there’s more but those seem really important.

First I was asked about the coaches who are paid more than Brad. I explained what distinguishes them from Brad. And then based upon my explanation, "Brad Underwood is never going to have (my) confidence or trust?" What part of my explanation wasn't factual? What part of my explanation involved "moving the goal post?"

Just trying to make sure - trying to wrap my head around all this portal chaos. What are the chances of 2/3 of Wooga, Kaluma, Watkins? Are the chances truly none? If I had to make an educated guess right now, I think those are our top 3 targets.

I figured 2/3 isn't realistic so to me best case would be Watkins and Monsanto.

100% agreed and maybe DGL, Ty, and Tre can make that step.
Tre doesn't need to make any "step." IMO he's already done so. As for Ty, he is what he is: a plus rebounder and defender who can't shoot. He is what he is, and no reason to believe that will change--a guy who can't shoot and you don't have to guard.

I understand this take. Keep in mind, the standard is chasing a National Championship…set directly by Brad.

I’m a big BU fan and would love for him to shut us up by nabbing that last big piece. The right wing player could take us from a 6-8 seed to a 4-5 (maybe lower).

With an incredible season ending so abruptly, this board has been much needed therapy.
Hey now, let's not bring American politics into our already volatile conversation. ;)

Hmmmm... zoiks your total of four posts over the past year (mostly bashing our recruiting efforts) with nothing positive to say about anything makes me wonder a bit about your motives

Sometimes I wonder how old people on here are. Or their life experiences.

My boss trusts me. He has confidence in me. Sometimes he questions my decisions.

I love my wife. I trust her. Sometimes she buys stupid $h!t.

I literally do not know a single fan that occupies the territory some profess here which seems to be you can never question a decision by our coach. He's not perfect. It's not being a bad fan to point out problems.

To the poster who suggested my type of fandom is hard I'd only suggest that I find it fun. Talking about sports with intelligent guys who like to discuss various nuances of games or recruiting or general managering is great.

I've no interest in some slavish fandom.

You know it’s not that simple. Every coach at this level is constantly scrutinized.

Any doubt going into this year is now also self-inflicted by BU, so you can’t blame the fan base. Seth Davis’s compliments regarding BU building a program and not just a team at the end of the season are all moot because either BU decided to burn it all down and start over, or got beat down by Frazier in Portal Kombat.

Either way he’s back to square one as a result of only 2 players returning from last years team, so I don’t agree that fan doubts are moving the goal posts.

Guards: Kylan, DGL
Wings: Tre, Monsanto, Watkins, Ty
4s: Morez, Ben, Booth
5s: Tomislav

Not trying to be negative just stating what is most likely - This team likely won't be ranked preseason and will likely finish the season in the 7-10 seed range. Sure can be better than that but that's what's likely.

Is that accurate? ...Or is that putting it too below the bar?

If you want to criticize the roster construction on May 11th, be my guest. Personally, I think it's kind of foolish. Yes, we currently have a hole that we are all very aware of, but Brad's shown he's a heck of a problem solver. There's still time and options for him to solve this problem. And I do think Brad's record over the past 5 years earns him the benefit of the doubt to wait till we actually know what the final roster is. But hey, I get it. Watching sausage get made is messy business. The thing is, though, if you don't have the stomach for it or it's stressing you out in May for a season that starts in November, you don't have to watch. Just like you don't have to post in the game threads about every single less-than-perfect possession.
