Has anyone made it seem like he's coming back?
so I went and checked. On April 30 one of our insiders was talking about getting the right 5 signed up might entice Hawkins back. I know 12 days ago feels like an eternity, but don't make it sound like the notion is totally out of left field. It's a mere month ago that Where do we stand with Storr went from a funny joke to a bitter pill.

I don't follow those teams as closely but a lot of them still need to fill open scholarships so they will still be adding. Illinois is right in line with a lot of the best programs in the country and that turnover is going to happen when you lose your 3 best players and 5 to graduation.

There was an article on this posted fairly recently about BT10 teams. Illinois was one of very few basketball programs operating in the black this year. I believe Rutgers was some where around 9 million in the red…

Think it was a front page post if someone wants to find it.

I guess what I don't seem to understand is, let's say Coleman doesn't go pro this year and doesn't play overseas. Why would he choose to go to another school other than Illinois? Would there be something that he would be looking for that he can't get here?

Colman probably helped me share all my emotions more than any Illini over the past 4 years. I'll call it living the good life of fan.

Again this is over 4 years for all these emotions

"Get him out"
"Put him in"
"Play Defense"
"Nice Block"
"Damn he can handle the ball"
"What is he doing bringing the ball up"
"Dumb Shot"
"Great Shot"
"Where is your head"
"He's going to be great in the NBA"

I never doubted his heart, or his love for being an ILLINI! I'd put him right there with Trent Frasier and one of my recent favorite players.

Cap tip Colman, and good luck in you basketball career
We all grew, along with him.

More $$$........with his interview with Goodman , cohawk stated many , many times it's all about the Benjamins.....I would think we would try to coerce cohawk back , but we shall see.....just wouldn't seem right to see him in another college uni , but this is the Portal Pleasure Auction Barn times.....
It really really is...

Think his quote in the interview with Goodman sums up the answer to that. Basically said he doesn't wanna take opportunity away from the other 4s we've got (morez, carey, hum). I think we'd be able to pay him if he wants to come back. Think we should be able to...but def. can be otherwise...

well, a couple weeks ago the suggestion was that he'd be looking to get his game outside the paint more. The lack of a true 5 on our team forced him to play the post more than he wanted.

I think this team will be solid if we can just get a 2. Just such a big hole rn imo. We’ll see. I trust anyways, but just not sold on this makeup as of right now. Just feels like we have a lot of pieces to surround THE guy and we don’t have that guy. Just my opinion though.
We now return you to our regularly scheduled program.

Ehhh....I haven't seen him play but thought I'd throw the 3 in there to see what kind of response it got....if he's as talented as some say he is....then I was guessing it's a possibility ....many thought Ty playing point last year was a real stretch....not advocating...just spitballing

NBA Draft projections show Watlins as a late 1st round pick and Dillion Jones (Weber St) as a high 2nd Round pick. You can remove those two from our thoughts. Jaxon Robinson, David Jones, and Jaylen Wells are all very late 2nd rounds or barely undrafted. Bardo didn't have a good report on David Jones and I would go with his scouting (lack of defense, no passing, Offensive minded). I like Jaxon Robinson but I think he is a player on the fence (may stay in or out).

Still leaves several SG like I mentioned before, another one that I think will work very well at Illinois is Trazarian White from UNC Wilmington. High scorer, goes 6-7, high assist man, high transition scorer, shoots 3 well, can play booty ball. Just wondering why UNC doesn't go after him. Looks like Arkansas and Kentucky are after him.

Once again I like Cedric Coward, he is like a consistant Tevian Jones or the version that played at Souther Utah or the Maryland game.

1.) I just hope everything goes according to plan and he goes pro; for the sake of this board. That would be a victory for everyone. Personally, I’m not sure I could bear the sight of him playing for another college. I might get there. But it would prolly take some therapy. Lol
Right now I don’t even wanna think about it.

2.)Portal Pleasure Auction Barn…quite the barrage of visual imagery, Pru. Kinda has a David Lynch-vibe? Lol

First of all, Dillon Jones nor David Jones is in the portal. White is down to 3 schools and we aren't one of them.

Edit: Also, you really agree with what Bardo said about Jones? I trust what he says, don't get me wrong, but I disagree with that. I thought Jones would've been a great add for us.

Anyways...doesn't matter... - Didn't enter.

#2 Juco per 247. Solid stats. Decent option for the wing.
Seems like more SG are becoming availiable, just saw his video. My quick player compairson is a more athletic Antonio Reeves. Nwanko very big guard/wing, hits deep 3's and jumps out of the gym. How well will he defend as he moves up in competition and how well will he make the tranistion to high level college bball.

It won’t be personal…but if he goes to UNC I absolutely won’t be cheering for him lol not sorry about it. If we are on the other side of that title game with those cheaters our entire history and the last 20 years would be so different

Money is obviously a big one. Also look who we've brought in - Humrichous, Booth, White, Ivisec. Those are all guys that would be competing with him for minutes. I believe he's sincere when he says it wouldn't be fair to those guys if he came back. They were recruited with the assumption that he wouldn't be here.

If it was only money and everything else fell through, they could give him a Demin size bag and justify it by reasoning that they underpaid him last year. I think that sticks in his craw too.

Not sure where to put this, but Dee won coach of the year in NAIA

262 likes on this (at this moment). Not much for somebody with his level of recognition at one point in time. Dee Brown in the social media age would’ve been something to behold. He of all our past players would’ve been an absolute social media darling with his game and charisma.

Just because mock drafts have a kid somewhere it doesn’t mean the teams actually picking have him there- they haven’t gone through the combine or workouts yet- things can still change significantly

I agree it’s not a great feeling waiting for who will drop out of the draft to get our SG, but that is where we are. If Watkins isn’t guaranteed a first round pick- he could decide to come back and I think he could make a TSJ like jump in his draft stock with a really good year. That’s what a lot of these kids will have to weigh

Don’t forget Morez! Definitely affect his minutes as well.
