Riley Kugel de-committed from Kansas this week. 6’5” guard who I believe started as a freshman and sophomore. Could he be an active perimeter threat?
Kansas also lost the 30th ranked player(number 3 pg) in the 2024 class when he de-committed at the end of April. Nate Oats at Bama grabbed him. Hate to see it.

If we don't land Watkins, we're in trouble. Plain and simply that.

There's no other guy even remotely close to a star wing left.
I think we will be OK with a plan B or even C type of player and I won't be surprised if that's what happens.

Basketball is a global game and I doubt most have a clue who is actually out there over seas. Who heard of our new center, Demin, or this KJ kid who looks like a baller. They can find a quality guy and sleepers even hinted there are guys in the portal not made public the Michigan and Illinois may be in on but Greg said he was asked not to name the player. They did say this player is at the combine.

The difference between Watkins and some of the other options isn't that huge. The difference between Watkins and nothing, or Watkins and the Mongolian Mike's of the world might be.

And look, if the cake doesn't rise and we're an NIT type team next year, with the lesson being that we over-shot on roster churn and newness, that isn't the end of the world. The important thing is that we learn how to operate in this new landscape, that the right lessons are taken and acted upon, positive or negative.

The sneering condescension from those who fed this board a line of propaganda for months about our dominant position in the portal that was massively, comprehensively incorrect and misleading is a little disappointing, I can't help but say.

Maybe you should put those that you are disappointed in............ on your ignore list. Then you'd have a lot less reason to be so Gritty. BUT, honestly, I think you're just like the rest of us, and truly enjoy a look on the inside of the program and understand that recruiting is wacky these days. Heck, I'm just glad that this program is finally back in a place where we truly ARE involved with top, ELITE talent. That is the inside info I love hearing, regardless of outcome.

I find it so weird that people get upset about insiders giving us info. If you're checking the recruiting thread in May, you're here specifically for those insiders. Don't fool yourself. Nothing else any of us has to say really matters that much. And every single one of us has the choice to do with that info what we will. If you're living and dying by it and it's making you upset when things don't play out exactly like they say, frankly, you're doing it wrong.

It's just a glimpse into what the staff might be thinking. Their info is also almost entirely one-sided, so of course it's going to be optimistic--the staff isn't going to be like, "yeah, we're f'd here." I take everything our insiders say as interesting tidbits that I'll believe when I see. It makes the whole experience a lot more fun.

Ultimately, I do get it, we're all diehard fans and our program matters to us, but also, this isn't actually that serious.
