Also, maybe this is the wrong place ... but your final NET Rankings by conference after Selection Sunday:

Average per Team
Big XII: 46.07
Big Ten: 60.64
SEC: 68.14
ACC: 76.13
Big East: 80.18
Pac-12: 82.00

Average of Top Four Teams
Big XII: 8.50
SEC: 9.75
Big East: 14.75
Big Ten: 15.25
ACC: 23.25
Pac-12: 30.25

Average of Bottom Four Teams
Big XII: 102.50
Big Ten: 105.75
Pac-12: 135.00
ACC: 142.00
SEC: 158.33
Big East: 165.00

As I said in previous versions of this ... yeah, the Big XII looks like the best conference. However, when I am picking my bracket this year, I am going to try to look at how many of these supposedly great SEC and Big East teams have been stacking wins against the absolutely pathetic lower tier teams in both leagues...

This is why I had no problem with the committee leaving out St. John’s, Seton Hall and Providence. I mean St. John’s lost to Michigan and SH lost to Rutgers. I do believe UConn, Marquette and Creighton(the only BE teams that got in) could all go on deep runs. Definitely some skeptical SEC teams though

Iowa State fans are definitely not pleased with the draw. They thought they had a chance at the last 1 seed and get the last 2 instead. UConn bracket, a potential in state school(Drake in round 2)-think Loyola 2021 for us. They are more upset about BYU than Illinois to be honest. We’d probably feel the same way if we saw Wisconsin in our half of a bracket via getting bumped down a seed line.

The more I look at the Drake WSU match up I think those are 2 good teams

Drake beat Indiana St who was a good top 25 team and WSU beat Arizona.

Thought experiment:

BYU is the 3 seed and Illinois are the 6 seed (not a completely unrealistic possibility if we changed only a few variables over the past week or two) - same teams, coaches, etc...

I contend we'd be much more of the "punch our ticket to the S16 now!" mood than we are tending to be today.

(But first, beat Morehead St.!)

All these Big East coaches can whine all they want about the number of teams, but there is a difference between 14 team conferences and 11 team conferences, and literally 20 % of any other team's conference opponents were free wins against teams that wouldn't go .500 in One Bid Conferences.

Disappointed Indiana St was left out. Sentimental reasons, but as the talking heads noted, ISU has the highest NET (29) of any team left out of the tournament.
Whoops, you know I meant the LOWEST NET number , so the highest rated.

Was running bracket simulations on EvanMiya just for fun, and this was the 4th or 5th one I ran. I'd take it...

Truly a terrible piece of writing. I’m tired of no accountability by these writers. Unfortunately ranks right up there with Pat Forde who is clueless.
So many articles these days are written by, or supplemented by, AI. You can tell by the stilted way they read. Those articles contain "facts", but absolutely NO understanding of the teams discussed. In fact, after I just typed "discussed," I'm simply "disgusted " by them.

FWIW, these are the user odds picks on the CBS App (I actually prefer the ESPN app as a user, but their "analysis" is utter crap) for major upsets (12+ seeds in the First Round) in descending order ... gives a good idea of who people think are going down!

31.0% for #12 James Madison over #5 Wisconsin
30.0% for #12 Grand Canyon over #5 Saint Mary's
23.0% for #12 McNeese over #5 Gonzaga
22.0% for #12 UAB over #5 San Diego State
17.0% for #13 Samford over #4 Kansas
12.0% for #13 Charleston over #4 Alabama
10.0% for #13 Yale over #4 Auburn
8.0% for #13 Vermont over #4 Duke
8.0% for #14 Akron over #3 Creighton
7.0% for #14 Colgate over #3 Baylor
7.0% for #14 Morehead State over #3 Illinois
5.0% for #14 Oakland over #3 Kentucky
5.0% for #15 Western Kentucky over #2 Marquette
5.0% for #15 South Dakota State over #2 Iowa State
4.0% for #15 St. Peter's over #2 Tennessee
3.0% for #15 Long Beach State over #2 Arizona
2.0% for #16 Montana State over #1 Purdue

I'm trying something new this year. I'm not filling out a bracket until the play-in games are done. Actually giving myself time to digest the field, hear prognosticators, and see what the actual field of 64 looks like.

I'm sure I'll fail miserably still.
Won a workplace pool 20 years ago and gave prize money (1200) to my wife so she and a friend could go to Cancun for a week. Not a damn thing since.
