I’m a CFP by day and living on West Coast, so I just rescheduled all clients on Thursday after lunch due to an “important and personal” appointment, in order to root on our Every Day Guys in real time. I-L-L. This is March, baby.

So call you after I win Mega Millions tonight?? 😎

I think some of the details of the case made it a bit radioactive for the media to talk about. There was questionable charging from the DA which can make TSJ an unfair victim if what he did turned out to be 100% consensual, and if it wasn't 100% consensual, the young lady would get unfairly smeared if they are overly supportive of TSJ.

In journalism, the phrase is "be first, but be right first." The problem is, if you aren't right with this one, the collateral damage to one party or the other is enormous. I could see them wanting to handle the whole topic with kit gloves.

i know not to think ahead,,, but i want a third shot at Purdue. But Iowa St. is the game in this quadrant.
I feel ya. I think I’d rather just see Purdue taken down in their first game. ;)
(I basically like Painter but I’m not that crazy about Edey.)

There's still a national disrespect regarding the Illini, some of it may be warranted. With that being said, let's start on Thursday and prove the national writers wrong and make a final 4 run
I mean, we've lost twice to Purdue, the only team in the B1G with obvious elite bonafides, and we've dropped several stinkers against garbage teams. That's not even addressing the legal cloud. So I understand the skepticism.

We all know the ceiling is very, very high. But can we play near that ceiling and do it for (hopefully) 6 games in a row? Or even 2?

I'm excited to find out.

Not sure about several. We have had 2 bad losses this entire season

Yeh, from what I have seen thus far, we are being taken very lightly by most.

At Michigan State brushes right up against the "bad loss" category in the way the game was lost. Yeah, yeah, E Lansing and Izzo, etc. etc., but we got outscored by 16 in, what, the last 5 minutes or so? That's a huge deficit in a small amount of time and is, in and of itself, "bad". At Northwestern not great, either; I guess the home games against Marquette and Purdue are more missed opportunities than bad losses.

I watched a couple of their prediction videos. Dauster was in both. Seems to be a consensus on there - Hansborough, Goodson, Dauster, Fanta and another guy. This needs to be poster material for the boys. Not getting any respect. Hansborough hates us and the feeling is mutual. Goodson is picking BYU because we haven't had any recent success in the tourney. The other guys don't trust us - even though Dauster was picking us for the final four a couple of weeks ago.

I'm going with "Coleman always gets the last laugh" on this one.
This is the funny part to me - Dauster was talking about how much this Illini team reminds him of the Miami team that went to the Final 4 last year, saying how we're a senior-laden team with multiple guys who can go and get a bucket. He believed then lol. Whatever, it's a smart way to get views leading into the tourney. All those podcast guys know how crazy of a fanbase we are

for what it's worth, this is why the bigger the platform (CBS pundits for instance) the more likely the talking heads just end up picking the 1 seeds and other favorites, someone is always upset about "disrespect" and will use it to clap back at them if the favorite they pick to lose early goes on a big run. It just becomes easier to pick your battles and be as less controversial in making "selections" as possible

I would include the loss at Maryland early in the season. And the Penn State game where the Illini frittered away a lead in the last minute.

I like our chances against anyone, but it all starts with this game. If it's a race to 90 - there are few teams that can play at that pace, and I like our chances. If our D even plays average - we could win the whole thing.

Don’t know if it has already been mentioned as I’m working to catch up on this thread but BYU was a 5 seed that asked to be 6 to avoid playing on Sunday.
Seems unfair Illinois worked for that 3 seed and they basically have to play a 5 seed now?if BYU can't play on Sunday then they shouldn't be in the tournament.

Listened to morning show on the Score this morning. Someguy named Decoursey, (sp), went on for 15-20 minutes. Talked about Duquesne, Kentucky, James Madison, DePaul, Purdue and others. Not a word about the beloved in a city overflowing with ILLINI grads. Don't get it. Just don't get it.

I was wondering this as well. I fly back from Vegas 2pm Pacific.... I was hoping for Friday Sunday draw because of this. Let's get the win Thursday and I'm willing to move my flight to Sunday if needed. We all make sacrifices, lol
Oh darn, another night in Vegas.

Agree, this really pisses me off, I think we can take them as we are superior position wise, though totally unfair we have to play a 5. NCAA thinks they are penalizing them by dropping them a seed, but really penalizing us.

Exactly. So, BYU is underseeded … what should they be?! A 5? A 4?

We’re a #3 seed and playing like it. We can and should beat them if we come to play. And if you don’t come to play in March Madness, you’ll lose anyway.

We are all scarred from the Loyola loss, Chattanooga scare and Houston loss … but this team can stack a few wins in this bracket if they play to their potential!

Dude, I'm still scarred from Austin Peay.
