I think Illinois will have a hard time moving up with all the loses this week

I think the voters will move Duke and Wisky above us. We won’t get credit for beating a tough MSU team. Wisky will get credit for beating NW

We still play Maryland tomorrow.

If we win @Maryland along with the win against MSU would be more than enough to move us up several spots.

Who do we move ahead of? I think we move up one spot with a win tomorrow. I see Duke and Wisky catching voter attention

UNC will be also moving up
UCONN will be top 2

Bottom line we need to win

Well, 1-2-3-5-6-8-9 lost so far this week. I don't think that means Illinois will be #3. What I do think will happen:

- #1 votes will be split between Purdue, Kansas and UConn (Kansas did just beat OK).
- I think Houston will drop out of the top 10.
- I think this will be the top 10 next Monday (if Illinois wins tomorrow by at least, say, 8):
1. Purdue
2. Kansas
3. UConn
4. UNC
5. Tennessee
6. Illinois
7. Duke
8. Memphis
9. Baylor
10. Wisconsin

It will be interesting how voters handle UH. 2 road loses in close conference games. I would say normally they drop to 12 or 13 but their track record may keep them in the top 10. But I would think Wisky and Duke jump over us

Not college, but the Bulls are way better when Ayo is on the floor. I don't watch often, but he is subject to the role he has been given (stand in the corner). I'm in no way convinced that if he was given Colby Whites role, he would not exceed, given his length and smarts.

Kansas lost @ UCF my top 10 in same circumstance would be:

1. Uconn
2. Purdue
3. UNC
4. Kansas
5. Tennessee
6. Illinois
7. Duke
8. Kentucky
9. Memphis
10. Baylor

Never know with the voters, but we are 10 now, and with 2 wins, most voters would logically place us ahead of anyone in the 6-9 range that lost. No guarantee, but that’s where I think we will be slotted by most voters.

What the average will be will determine where we are in that range.

Not sure where Duke is but it’d take a good amount for Wisky to jump us if both teams won. They’ll stay close behind us.

We play Maryland at home tomorrow. I doubt we get penalized with a win regardless

You’re right. Not sure why I thought we were heading there. Must have read the schedule wrong.

Regarding our ranking Monday, assuming we win tomorrow:

Houston lost twice
Oklahoma lost twice.

We jump both guaranteed.

#8 Arizona lost, we likely jump them.

That puts us at 7.

#6 Kentucky lost, I’d argue we jump them as well.

That puts us at 6.

Will anyone jump us?

#11 Duke won both this week. But they only beat a bad Georgia Tech team by 5 at home today. Likely not enough juice to jump us.

#15 Wisconsin won both this week. But we had 300 votes on them. I don’t see that being enough to jump us.

Keep in mind, the MSU win is a very good win. That’s a top 20 team in almost all advanced metrics and top 30 in NET.

So I’m gonna say 6 next week on the high end. 8 on the low end (if Kentucky stays ahead of us and one team ends up jumping us).
