I've started exploring the list of tall (6'3" and over) players already in the transfer portal. Still more players will enter, but here is an early shortlist of names that stand out to me, with current year and points/rebounds/blocks averages.
Caitlin Weimar - 6’4” Boston University averaged 19 points/11 rebounds/3 blocks (SR)
Tenin Magassa - 6’5” Rhode Island 7/5/2 (SR) from Paris. Started career at Dayton.
Kyla Oldacre - 6’6” Miami, FL 5/4/1 (SO) from southwest Ohio, so Green may have recruited her in high school. Played 16 minutes per game for a team that was ranked during the year.
Hannah Gusters - 6’5” OK State 14/4/1 (SR)
Cameron Williams - 6’3” Michigan 7/5/0 (SR) from Chicago
Grace Sullivan - 6’4” Bucknell 9/5/0.6 (SO) from Antioch, IL
Kennedi Jackson - 6’4” Charleston Southern 14/5/1 (SR) started career at Oklahoma State
Lexi Jackson - 6’4” UNC Wilmington 5/9/2 (SR)
Brenna McDonald - 6’3” Yale 11/7/1.5 (SR)
Maya Peat - 6’6” Arkansas Pine Bluff 11/6/1.3 (SR)
Weimar was clearly the most productive.
I could see the Illini landing Magassa and Oldacre, with their ties to Green's old stomping grounds, and having a nice present and future pathway next year with Magassa (fifth year), Oldacre (junior), and Hayven Smith (frosh) as three true centers.
Gusters was a key player on a high major team, and looks kind of like Hobby on the court. Can score it, but 4 rebounds and 1 block while averaging 25 minutes on the floor are a little low. Looked out of shape. Has already transferred twice, from Baylor to LSU to OK State.
