Women were T5 at Lansing. Finish top 6, and it's on to Fayetteville. Go Illini! Good luck to mnen next week.
Anybody volunteering at Western Junior at Rich Harvest in June? I think Konnie is, too.
That is awesome and a great achievement for the ladiesWith their (currently) 5th-place finish at the Regional Tournament today, the Illini lady linksters qualified for the National Championships! http://results.golfstat.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=team&tid=16071
This the Illini women's first time qualifying for nationals ever!

What is the format, for those who don't follow very closely? I see that it is 4 days. I know that nationals goes to match play, same here? For convenience, here is the leaderboard for our Region

So, 2 days stroke play, 2 days match?Match play only in finals. Top 8 teams.

I was coaching at a a Special Olympics golf practice late this afternoon, and the honcho asked me about Illini golf. I said the women have made it to NCAA for the first time ever. The men? Well, they're getting better all the time! (I always love throwing in a Beatles' allusion now and then).
Got home, see that Illini men are leading at Myrtle! (I asked that they make some noise like the women in a previous post).
Boy, they are, but there's still a long way to go.
Please help: How do pronunce Adrien DuMaupassant Jean Paul Belmondo Maurice Chevalier's name? Don't mean to be offensive to this young Belgian/Illini.
Thomas Pieters, Thomas Detry, Giovanni I can almost pronounce correctly, but Adrien's name? HELP!
Make more noise, men.
I love Small ball.
Regionals are just 3 days of stroke play, I'm pretty sure.
Each team counts 4 of its 5 scores each day.
Low team totals for the 12 rounds submitted advance to the NCAA's.
That is 5 teams from each of 6 regions if I recall correctly from last year.
In addition, the top (roughly) 3 individuals from each region not on a qualifying team also advance for a chance to win the individual title.
At Nationals, there are (again by memory, so not certain on this) 4 days of stroke play, with some cuts after 2 and/or 3 days.
That cuts the field down, so that they don't have to get 200 golfers around the course by the 3rd day.
Eventually, the top 8 advance to match play, with #1 playing #8, etc.
Match play goes 3 rounds and I think the final round might be 36 holes.
So, match play takes 2 days, going from 8 to 4 to 2 on the the first day and then down to the champion on the final day.
Conceptually this is all correct, but I might have some of the details a bit bollocks'ed up
