What is the schedule for the NCAA? When at the regional fields announced? What other big ten teams should make it?

Women were T5 at Lansing. Finish top 6, and it's on to Fayetteville. Go Illini! Good luck to mnen next week.

Anybody volunteering at Western Junior at Rich Harvest in June? I think Konnie is, too.

Yelp, I will be keeping score at the Western Junior in June and I hope to be keeping score at the B1G tournament next May at Rich Harvest.

You talk about achievements - this Illini women's performance in the regional is something. Not only does it mean the first ever women's appearance in the NCAA Championship, but also they were tough in the final round in East Lansing, competitive with the four teams ahead of them. Bodes well for Fayetteville.

Glad the women beat Indiana (but congratulations to Hoosiers); surprised Spartans didn't make it.

Now men, listen up: make some noise of your own at Myrtle Beach.

Round 1 of the regionals is wrapping up. Illini men off to a real nice start. Sitting in 1st place at -10 with a few holes to go.

What is the format, for those who don't follow very closely? I see that it is 4 days. I know that nationals goes to match play, same here?
Regionals are just 3 days of stroke play, I'm pretty sure.
Each team counts 4 of its 5 scores each day.
Low team totals for the 12 rounds submitted advance to the NCAA's.
That is 5 teams from each of 6 regions if I recall correctly from last year.
In addition, the top (roughly) 3 individuals from each region not on a qualifying team also advance for a chance to win the individual title.

At Nationals, there are (again by memory, so not certain on this) 4 days of stroke play, with some cuts after 2 and/or 3 days.
That cuts the field down, so that they don't have to get 200 golfers around the course by the 3rd day.
Eventually, the top 8 advance to match play, with #1 playing #8, etc.
Match play goes 3 rounds and I think the final round might be 36 holes.
So, match play takes 2 days, going from 8 to 4 to 2 on the the first day and then down to the champion on the final day.
Conceptually this is all correct, but I might have some of the details a bit bollocks'ed up

I was coaching at a a Special Olympics golf practice late this afternoon, and the honcho asked me about Illini golf. I said the women have made it to NCAA for the first time ever. The men? Well, they're getting better all the time! (I always love throwing in a Beatles' allusion now and then).

Got home, see that Illini men are leading at Myrtle! (I asked that they make some noise like the women in a previous post).

Boy, they are, but there's still a long way to go.

Please help: How do pronunce Adrien DuMaupassant Jean Paul Belmondo Maurice Chevalier's name? Don't mean to be offensive to this young Belgian/Illini.
Thomas Pieters, Thomas Detry, Giovanni I can almost pronounce correctly, but Adrien's name? HELP!

Make more noise, men.

I love Small ball.

That should be "de Maup...." Hate to think you think we're barbarians up here in DeKalb!

I hope, if you can, you volunteer for Western Junior this June and BIG tournament next year at Rich Harvest.

Great golf experiences, as always, at RHF!

I think it depends upon whether he hails from the Dutch, German or French speaking areas of the country...…..Just kidding, I think.

Belgium - a very interesting country. I'm sure my grandfather thought the same when he was there with the AEF.

Does this happen to you? You start getting excited about a team, look forward to the next game, and the team goes south.

Illini have slipped a bit in the Myrtle regional after my last post.

I'm a jinx, I guess.

Will say no more except: GO ILLINI! You can do it.

I think they changed the rules this year so that now all five scores count.
