Would anyone like to post the chances of landing each of these three???

I think we get Cooper.

Johnson is more of a question of academics I'm guessing. He has said that he will not sign "until the Spring" which is a good indication that his academics aren't in order yet. The fact that we appear to be the only P5 school chasing him indicates that he's a risky prospect. There's no other reason why someone with his size and athleticism isn't getting more P5 interest. Could be a Stampley type of add in May or June if he we have a scholarship available and his academics are in order.

Hoofkin is obviously already gone.

It's a Festivus miracle!

Not sure what Estes will play here. He didn't even get a token chance at playing QB at MN and he wasn't getting any snaps in the Secondary for them either it appears. Maybe WR? I guess we'll see what he has to offer in 2020.

It’s kind of curious that there is no mention of it anywhere but his Instagram account, I would think Illinois football would be playing highlights and everything.

But, Fleck was heavily criticized by Minnesota fans for not getting him the ball/giving him a shot, I think this could be good

I hope this means we have a chance with the 2020 kids at ESL. Powell and Johnson already have multiple P5 offers. If the tide has turned with ESL then we have to have a chance with these guys.

Things are looking so much brighter now.

Thomas, Ford, Beason and Williams would be 4 of the highest rated guys we've had on the roster since 2013. Eifler was also rated higher out of HS than anyone who got snaps for us last year.

Just from reading MN sites from earlier in the year they were questioning why Estes wasn't even getting on the field in that much maligned secondary.

Estes originally committed to Western Michigan when Fleck was still there. He then flipped to Missouri when they offered in August of 2016. He then flipped to MN when Fleck was hired there.

Given the QB situation at MN I'm surprised they didn't give him a shot. Croft is now at Tennessee State and they were starting a walkon Freshman at the beginning of this year.

I don't really care about all that though. He's a tough kid who has been through a lot. I suggest watching the documentary 89 Blocks since we now have both of the players who are featured in that documentary.

So let's say Estes is true, we now have 13 of the 16 spots left on the roster if I'm correct just going off of Robert's article. So that would leave us with Cooper, Ford (who according to people here looks like he's coming), and maybe RaJae Johnson/ AD Miller. This would mean we don't have space for an OL and the walk on from LWE doesn't count towards this right?

Not sure what to be more excited about; adding a ton of St. Louis kids and building a pipeline with that area or stealing players from Fleck?

I would have loved to flip the Guedet kid from Washington. 6-7 and 275+. Saw him play basketball and he is athletic. Has future NFL left tackle written all over him.

The walk on (Judd) doesn't count.

Cooper, Ford, Thomas and Estes would obviously all count. This pushes us close to our limit. I think we're seeing why the staff did nothing beyond trying to keep the current '19 recruits committed in addition to trying to add Randolph.

Then there is also AD Miller.

I think we have to start creaning guys or there are guys who could leave on their own. The 4th year Juniors along with J. Marchese and Walker are fair game. The only 4th year Junior I would maybe push out is Justice Williams. Other than that, I think we need the rest including Reams who was in the rotation at WR at times last year.

Lovie didn't say he expected any transfers at the Presser, however, so the staff probably likes these guys and may not want to push them out.

I think the status of Oladipo is still up in the air and C. Green didn't play towards the end of the year for reasons that I don't believe are health related.

Some players will be leaving the program. Second year and up kids who haven't cracked the 3 deep or have been supplanted by younger kids. The only way we're taking Estes is by attrition.

I'm excited about seeing Jeff in the Spring game. I guess we'll see if he can get the waiver. In the meantime I'm just going to enjoy his highlights and dream about him playing for Illinois in the fall. Obvious impact at WR and PR.

Someone asked about his speed. It's in the 4.3s for sure. Just watch him. That's football speed. He is truly special.

I would imagine although there are kids in the Class of 2016 who have never played a snap who are still here. Have Trainer, B. Jones and Gavin ever played a down here? Maybe they have no other options? It also seems like we've been hearing about Palmer being an impact player at TE for the last two years and then he never plays. Maybe these guys have no other options which is why they stay on scholarship and don't leave? The staff could nudge them out but they aren't guaranteed a scholarship for another year.

We have had a kicker (McCourt) on scholarship for three years and he isn't going anywhere since he will be battling it out against Griffin next year.

Also, I really want to see what @Title has to say about this. Estes could have been a package deal with Thomas.

I remember @Title said that Estes had no interest in Illinois in 2016.

What's up with Raejae Johnson? His highlights are really good. Are we recruiting him hard? Doesnt look like he is getting a whole lot of attention?

I agree. Thinking somewhere from 4.35-4.38, and it is probably between him and Cumby for the fastest players on the team next year. I'll take Jeff in regard to football speed. There is a serious infusion of speed coming to this team with Jeff, Cumby, and Williams on offense plus Beason and Eifler on defense. The 2019 team will look light years faster than the 2018 team.

I think we should also talk about agility/quickness - this 2019 Illini offense might have the most vicious trio of cut-back specialists in the B1G. Reggie Corbin has the best cutting ability in the conference, Jeff makes people look silly in the open field, and Isiah is the most elusive QB Illinois has ever had. I hope that all of the skill guys stay healthy and we can see all of the studs on the field at once. I cannot wait :illinois:

Exciting days indeed.

Our running game was this good even with teams playing press coverage and selling out to stop the run. Teams didn't feel threatened deep so they dared our receivers to beat them. I'm guessing in 2019 Thomas will force them to re-think that strategy.
