Rutgers 72, Illinois 57 POSTGAME

Well this lost shows you can never have too few ball handlers/creators. I think Underwood got the transfers for more than shooting.

If Tevian could get a half dozen games in a row under his belt like today he could be a force....

Get the ball inside!!!! We won't win without using our best weapons. Giorgi was pretty good today too. How many post touches did we get in the 2nd half? 2-3... Maybe. We do well shooting 3's in transition and after post touches, not as our entire offense

I am going to take what positive I can from this game. We got 6 more shots and 3 more FT on the road. This has been a consistent pattern in wins and losses. What it tells me is that on a neutral court come tourney time, we will have the advantage all other things being equal. BU needs to find a way of getting them the shots they can make. Shooting 28 threes and only making 8 is not going to win many games for us. Ayo being back will help, but the rest of the roster is going to have to step up.

I hope this is the case. We really are a very bad offensive team. We will see if 2 very low level transfers can be the difference? I think we need shooters and a point guard? Frazier, Ayo, Feliz, Williams? I don’t see a point guard in any of them? Ayo very loose handles for a PG? Also, Frazier is the only real shooter and he can’t do that really got now. We need Curbello and Miller very badly.

Welll that was a humbling experience for sure. At this point I hope we just make the dance then its a whole different season.

Happy Tev got minutes, but without looking at the stats it sure seemed like his shooting wasn't very good. Need him knocking down shots with all those minutes. Where was Kipper today?

I really like the effort this team puts out. Good coaching also. We just dont have any shooters, especially from 3 pt range. Good D can win games but poor shooting is killing us.

Trent was pressing too hard offensively, which was understandable with Ayo out. Gotta regroup for Tuesday.
Well they really were on TF and he was thinking shoot first a lot today. I think our best option was to feed the post inside out. We did it some in the first half and we right there and got to the line. If not for missed FTs we night have had the lead. I really would have liked for GB to have had a few more looks and Kofi pounding the glass. That none flop call really ticked me off when we finally did go to GB. I think he should have had more than 4 shots and Trent could have got some cleaner looks. They are tough at home but still frustrated with our second half game plan or lack there of

Don't agree the game plan was bad. Rutgers a good defensive team. They know we want to get it inside and they swarmed Kofi. Only have 30 seconds to take a shot. Without Ayo, hard for anyone to get their own shot. I agree we don't run great offense on our best day but without Ayo, not sure what else we could have done

Absolutely need three, probably need four. I’m struggling to see it without a healthy Ayo.

I dont know if the coaching was that good in the second half. The first half we went inside. Got to the line and were in the game. GB only had 4 shots and got good looks each time.

Anybody know what happened to Kipper? I was at game and not sure. His play was garbage when he played but not sure if he got hurt

A team that doesn't shoot the ball well takes 28 from 3. Awful. No patience on offense the 2nd half. Did not get the ball inside near enough the 2nd half. Where has the defense gone the last 4 games. Illinois has to play good defense to win. Off balance all day.
They are going to win , Tuesday. That's not negative, but not happening.
