I have enjoyed most if not all of his articles, especially after being away from the state for around 30 years or so...online reads and local before that were welcome from Tupper.

Thank you for the coverage the loyalty and the enjoyment your articles about Illinois basketball specifically gave most of us through the years. Enjoy the retirement.

Thanks for starting this thread. I have lived away from my home state for most of the last 40 years and have depended on Tupper for even handed and informative articles since he joined the digital age. Hate to see him go, but he deserves a long and happy retirement.

Nice article. Sorry to hear about this for us, but I certainly understand it for him. I just very recently discovered his series of dialog in the car, talking about the Illini in plain simple language. Wish that would continue. Best to you, Mark, for as long as you've been the best to us.

In Riding Shotgun with Tupper, Mark talks about what he saw in Saturday's workout with Andres Feliz. Very good stuff here. Starts right about the 7:10 mark.

You can also catch his opener about him announcing his retirement. Very good writer. Gonna miss him.

Good times listening to Tupper, even keeled, knows his stuff, not full of himself...very good listen, hope he continues.

Any chance to get an Auto thread with each new riding shotgun piece?

He went into the Feliz workout on Saturday very luke warm and came away extremely impressed. Said he appeared like a 24 year old out there and showed very well in the open gym.

Don't worry, foby. Some of us remember a young Loren Tate.

All the best to Mark Tupper. I wish he would reconsider, but it is what he wants that counts.

Gonna miss Tupp. I've always enjoyed his work. He has a great, very level-headed, perspective. You can tell players and coaches enjoy talking to him as well. Recenty, I've really enjoyed his "Riding Shotgun" videos. I'm hoping he continues those.

Thanks Tupp! Enjoy your retirement!

I covered the basketball team a bit for the DI while I was in undergrad, and Tupper is a great guy. That old guard of Illini beat writers all are, John Supine, Loren Tate, Paul Klee, Herb Gould, etc.

Ron Guenther is also a delightful man, which I obviously found extremely disconcerting

Appreciate anyone who fought the good fight covering a lot of bad teams.

I had forgotten how much venom was spewed at and about Paul Klee during his time in C-U. He rankled the meatballs in the fanbase in a way Shannon Ryan dare only dream.

Big fan of Tupper. He covered the Illini objectively and did great, quality work.

Paul Klee was mentioned too -- huge fan of his as well.

Tups is one of the best. His coverage of men's major fast pitch softball in the 70s and 80s was second to none. I believe he is in the Asa hall of fame. Congrats for 44 years tups you will be missed.
