Dear cherished Illinois Loyalty visitor,
It is with heavy heart that I must inform you that Illinois Loyalty will be ceasing operations as the #1 community-driven fan site for non-exclusive Illini sports content. The site has been purchased by Golden Palace Casino and will relaunch in May as the #1 sports gambling resource for college and pro sports within the state of Illinois. Au revoir, and thanks for the memories! I'll see you beachside at the Caymans.
Just kidding. As the conclusion of the basketball season marks the start of a long sports dry-spell until football, I'd like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who has continued to visit and spread the word about Illinois Loyalty. I'd especially like to acknowledge those who have shared their thoughts in the Forums, their photos via the Gallery (or via email), and their articles via Word documents.
Illinois Loyalty has thrived—and will continue to thrive—through your tremendous support and participation. The growth and activity on the site has been phenomenal. In 5 short months, here's the stats breakdown:
• 190 visitors have signed up for the Forums and posted 2,230 messages.
• Almost 300 pictures have been uploaded to the Gallery.
• 5 writers have submitted 7 articles to the site.
Sometime before football kicks-off against Rutgers there will be a few new roll-outs to look forward to. College football stories will be added to the News section. The Gallery will be upgraded (the software makers have promised all sorts of lovely improvements). An updated look'n'feel. Free shipping on all orders. And finally, a special report featuring an analysis of Illinois football home attendance patterns over the last 55 seasons.
It's only going to get better. And a friendly reminder—just because Illinois Loyalty is football- and men's-basketball-centric doesn't mean other Illini sports can't be covered. With your help, we can cover any of the other 19 U of I sports.
