Over and Out

Whatever it is, Illinois ain't got it... the "it" being the ability to play with the same intensity, savvy, and determination in two halves of a basketball game in a hostile arena. After leading 34-23 at the half at Michigan State, the Illini came out and surrendered a 28-5 Spartan run, made bad passes, took bad shots, essentially had a total collapse. Chester Frazier nearly pulled out a miracle by going on an 8-1 run to bring the Illini within 3 with 2 minutes to go, but Drew Neitzel's 15-ft shot with 0:25 to go closed the door. Up next: road game against Minnesota Wednesday. Filed under: Illini Basketball, Michigan State Spartans
