Tupper: Illini basketball picks up offensive pace

On Wednesday of this week, Illinois' amped-up firepower at the guard position was on full display at the Ubben Basketball Complex.
Jamar Smith and Alex Legion, natural scorers who were not available to coach Bruce Weber last season, were lighting it up. Demetri McCamey, who is being challenged by Weber to win every pickup game he plays, was flashing up and down the court, finding open teammates and knifing to the basket.
Trent Meacham looked better than ever, in part because he is no longer the only guard/shooter defenders have to worry about. Chester Frazier looked more at ease than ever. With less expected, more might be delivered.
