Warren Hood - renovation is on schedule; tower cranes coming down Monday

Associate Athletic Director Warren Hood was on WDWS Sportstalk this evening and talked the progress of the Memorial Stadium renovation.
  • It's quite hectic at the moment, however the renovation is on schedule for the Sept 6 home-opener.
  • Huge clean-up effort going on now.
  • The nice items are the last to be added. Half the 1,164 Colonnades Club seats have been installed, the 77 Club and suites chairs/furniture/TVs will be done next week.
  • The new West Balcony seats 3,500 (down from 10,000 pre-renovation).
  • The 2 tower cranes will begin to be taken down Monday. A crane is coming in to aid in the disassembly, and another crane is being brought in to help assemble that crane (there will be a test later).

It's worth listening to the podcast alone just for Hood's story of finally ascending one of the tower cranes for the first time on Tuesday.
