Brown plans to take another shot at the NBA, but he also has long-range plans about helping the Illini. He hinted Saturday that he could help Illini recruiting as an assistant coach one day.

"All the great coaches I had, I study basketball a lot, and I love the game," Brown said. "I could see myself coaching. I could see myself at the University of Illinois. You start at the top with great coaches. You have to have great talent. You have to have great guys who fit the system and produce for you.

"It would be an easy job for me to recruit players to come to a great school like this. It sells itself."
