"Jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire"

Illinois
Ron Zook spoke to the media today, "I can't stand to lose, and either can [the team]." A few points-
  • The challenges never end, Michigan is very good. Young talent on offense, solid on defense.
  • Gotta learn from the Penn State game, put it behind us, and move on.
  • On Illini's defense, no lineup changes but will be bring in more people to play, including LB Sam Carson.
  • Praised the play Donsay Hardeman, Josh Brent, and Cory Liuget; Travon Bellamy will see time at both safety and corner; Tavon Wilson will get some more reps.
  • Kick coverage - frustrating as heck. On paper the kick coverage players are better than last year. They just need to do what they are supposed to do. There will be personnel changes.

Tate: Illini projections were off

Let's begin by saying that 15 or more members of the nation's Top 25 would probably, like Illinois, have two losses if they had played Missouri and Penn State. Those two have erupted out of the 2008 gate. They are talented and explosive.

At the same time, it is significant that our perceptions of Illinois in August were strikingly different than they are now, a mere month later. Our perceptions became misconceptions.
