Indiana blames Sampson for 'failure'

Indiana
Indiana University said an "enhanced monitoring system and the detection of the (previous) violations by the University's compliance staff" are reasons why the NCAA's "failure to monitor" charge is unwarranted or inappropriate.

The school released its response to the NCAA's allegation Monday.

The university pointed to former coach Kelvin Sampson and his staff for "any perceived delay in identifying impermissible calls."

"Indiana University could not have prevented the intentional wrongdoing committed by the former coaches, and appropriately discovered, investigated and self-reported these violation," the school said in the response.
