Illini know winning will fill seats again

Illinois fans are waiting to see if these guys are any good. And most of them aren't waiting at the Assembly Hall. The crowd at Sunday's exhibition opener was announced at 13,370, though the true attendance was probably about one-third of that.

Illinois' 82-61 win against Florida Southern followed an Orange and Blue Scrimmage attended by only 2,532, and it broke a string of eight straight exhibition games announced as sellouts.

Illinois vs FL Southern (exhibition)

The ability to play well against a D-II team doesn't always translate to the ability to play well against top competition. DMac is the most obvious example of a player who seems to actually put up better numbers against better opponents. But I suspect the reverse will be true of some other guys on this squad; Davis and Brock certainly won't get their points as easily against better teams, and Tizzy is going to get pushed around on the boards in the Big Ten.
