New defensive line coach: Cincinnati's Keith Gilmore

Keith Gilmore, the defensive line coach and assistant head coach at Cincinnati, will join Zook's staff as defensive line coach. Whether Gilmore also assumes responsibilities as defensive coordinator is yet to be determined, an Illini source said.

Gilmore joined Cincinnati head coach Brian Kelly in 2001 and helped guide the Bearcats to the Big East title this season and a trip to the Orange Bowl.

Cincinnati finished 31st in the nation in total defense (321.9 yards a game), 19th in run defense (115) and led the Big East in sacks (2.86).
