Rally not enough after getting punched hard early

Tisdale and Mike Davis each have to use the pain of this loss to get stronger and better able to compete in these games. McCamey, who was bothered by Western Kentucky's quickness, needs to get a little leaner and more explosive. His is the easier job.

I commend Trent Meacham for a great final game as an Illini. He fought his tail off and finished with 24 points. And Calvin Brock poured himself into his starting role after filling in for Chester Frazier. He fought through foul trouble Thursday and still had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

It was just disappointing the way Illinois fell behind so quickly and so far and it probably underscored the team's decline at the end of the season. Illinois lost four of its final five games. If you think Chester Frazier's absence did not have an impact, you are wrong. It did.
