Jarred Fayson ready to make his mark with Illini football squad

Fayson gained eight pounds of muscle and became close with Benn, the former Big Ten freshman of the year whose third season with the Illini will likely be his last before jumping to the NFL.
"Rejus is my ace,'' Fayson said. "That's my dude. He's always around me. I'm always around him. We need each other. Not in a cocky way, but I will take some pressure off Rejus and the other guys. It will be a situation where they can't key on one guy. That's what we want.''
Like Benn, Fayson isn't short on confidence or aggressiveness.
"You have to play this game on edge,'' he said. "You can't go out there lackadaisical. You have to jump on top of somebody. That's how the game is supposed to be played. Attack first.''
