Vontae Davis eager to leave his brother's shadow

Vontae Davis, an all-Big Ten cornerback at Illinois the last two years, is expected to follow his brother's path in Saturday's NFL draft and become the second member of the family to be selected in the first round.

The 49ers made Vernon the sixth pick of the 2006 draft. Vontae could be the first cornerback chosen. Sibling rivalry aside, Vernon wouldn't even mind if Vontae went as high as he did.

"I hope he does," Vernon said. "I'm proud of him."
