With the amount of recruiting coverage available, I'm thinking the under-the-radar gem is becoming more rare. Or maybe it's what constitutes an under-the-radar gem that's changed. Right now, the top prospects in 2009 and 2010 are relatively well-known. You'll have to move on to the 2011 class to find one, or at least what passes for one these days.
And so I'm thinking it's worth keeping an eye on a 2011 prospect from northwest Indiana. His name is Branden Dawson, and he's a 6-foot-5 swingman. He hasn't really been under the radar among college recruiters, but he hasn't often been mentioned in terms of Illinois' recruiting.
