Martez Wilson, Illini defense taking shape
August 13, 2009 9:50 AM
Illinois junior middle linebacker Martez Wilson and a young defense are making an impression on coach Ron Zook and co-defensive coordinator Dan Disch.
Wilson, who played at outside linebacker last season, got off to a strong start in his first three days of camp. He snagged an interception and returned it for a touchdown Wednesday. The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder has the athleticism to draw attention, but he's also looking like he understands the defense much better.
