Camp Rantoul mailbag (part 1)

Were there any noticeable differences between a schultz-run offense vs a locksley-run offense?

First, a disclaimer: We really haven't seen a Schultz-run offense yet. They're saving all the wrinkles and surprises for Missouri, so I don't think we really know how Mike Schultz is going to call that game.

But there are noticeable differences, mainly in the formations. Lots of twin tight end sets that chance not only our passing plays, but our running plays. Think of the read-option plays to Rashard Mendenhall a few years ago with Russ Weil lead blocking from the fullback position - many times now it appears to be Zach Becker lead blocking from the tight end (or h-back) position. We also played with a jumbo formation at the scrimmage that looked like an Oklahoma wishbone - Jarred Fayson, freshman fullback Greg Fuller, and a tailback all lined up in the backfield. That could be fun.
