Illini hope to follow with more fun

As Illinois prepares for its second game of the season tonight against Northern Illinois, Weber already sees an opportunity to use the encouraging performance in an opening victory over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville as a way to demonstrate a "rise up" moment."

"It was a fun game," Weber said of the 96-69 victory Friday night. "Obviously it was a good start, a lot of energy from our players, a lot of energy in our building. It's exciting when you have guys playing at a high level and I thought we did that."

Already Weber likes the fact that the depth of talent is beginning to show.

"Our freshmen have had some shining moments early and at the same time, it will be so important that our juniors are consistent. The best thing about our team is our depth and versatility.
