Jeff Allen rises to the challenge

At Ron Zook's house last week, the Illinois coach's wife challenged one of the team's offensive tackles during a dinner she hosted for the linemen.
Listening to the coach's radio show, the hosts lauded Purdue defensive end Ryan Kerrigan and Denise Zook put the pressure squarely on Jeff Allen's broad shoulders.
"She told me she was going to watch me every play," said Allen, a 6-foot-5, 313-pound junior. "After the game, coach Zook told me she said I did a good job. She's a pretty good motivator."
