As one NBA draft analyst asked me Tuesday, "What's going on over there (at Illinois)?" First, it's important to note this was a Jereme Richmond issue, not a Bruce Weber issue. The coach did everything he could to help Richmond. The academics support staff worked magic with Richmond, starting long before his arrival, to make certain he took the right classes to be eligible as a freshman. But back to the analyst's comment: That is the perception of Illinois basketball right now. That it's a mess. The issues over the past five years are piling higher than the losses -- no matter whom you blame. The roster changes aren't over, either. I'll be surprised if there is not at least one change to the staff and other player or players transfer out.
