Sam Maniscalco: 'It's about pride'
March 1, 2012 11:47 AM
Sam Maniscalco hasn't owned, or borrowed, a pair of crutches in his brief time with the Illinois basketball program.
"There were times I could've used them," he acknowledged.
But that could have been viewed as a sign of weakness. And he couldn't let his teammates see him like that -- too much pride, for one. So even while he was limping to the bus after a game at Purdue, Maniscalco wouldn't ask for help. He leaned on the wall, instead.
