Not digging how the Cubs thread is killing us in posts. Great win today. Bring out the brooms for tomorrow!
I couldn't care less what Cub fans think or write about the Cardinals.

Not really sure what to say about our "offense". I had my reservations about the Heyward acquisition (I thought we could get a more bona fide masher in exchange for Shelby). And then I read where Heyward changed his batting approach as a leadoff guy with ATL. And then I read where Matheny told JH to approach batting 2nd like another 3 hole batter (that made me have a more optimistic outlook).
I know it's early, but I'm afraid my initial reservations will turn out to be correct. Our "proven" hitters are aging and Adams looks more or less lost out there.
It's just a shame we're losing with the ERA we have going now. While the pitching trend won't continue at the current pace, I fear the lack of offense absolutely can.
On any given day what's you preferred "regular" line-up?
I'd go:
Carp
Molina
Holliday
Peralta
Heyward
Adams
Wong
Jay
I know that's a string of lefties at the end, but Carp and Jay still hit LHP at a good clip.
Thoughts?
Think he was referring to it being much more active than our topic.
8-4 is considered losing? I think we'll be fine with our hitting. I was also worried about our proven hitters aging. But Holliday, the one I was most worried about, has come out of the gates on fire. Molina is in really good shape which will lead to more hits/less fatigue. Carp is the same. Peralta's been solid along with Wong. Once Heyward settles done I think we'll get on a roll
Speaking of Carpenter, lead off BOMB!
Haha. That's what I meant. The perils of forums![]()
As soon as I say I'm concerned about our lack of offense, two taters in two innings. Go figure:thumb:
Overall, I guess my concern is really stemming from seeming carry over from last year, where we struggled with pop, RISP, runs scored, etc.
It's a bit early, I know. Hoping the bats warm up with the weather!
What is Matt Adams' deal over at first base? This series has been awful for him over there.
Lance Lynn is an ace.
Sorry that I haven't been able to keep up with contracts, I know, bad fan. Is Lance locked up yet? He's always been very solid, and has shown the ability to pitch every 5th day.
Waino is hurt. The injury bug is getting us these last two games. We also don't have Marco to call up because he is hurt now too. He was having shoulder issues. Who is next?
I missed the injury trying to flip back and forth between the Cardinals and Blackhawks. What did he do and did it look bad?

All they do is talk
