Michigan State just offered Tilmon. Ugh. I really hope an early offer, loyalty, and effort means something to him.

Hardly a surprise. Tilmon is a top-20 (top-10 in some lists) 5* recruits and future McD AA. He will have many offers from a long list of top schools.

Oh I know that. I was speaking more to the latter portion of my statement. The blue bloods can sit back, offer when they feel like it, and if they lose out, no big deal because there's another 5 star or high 4 star as a backup plan. I wish Illinois had this luxury.

Saw him in person at the Breslin Center today. That dude is HUGE for a high school kid.

Just read an old thread about Jarrod Uthoff where the board concluded that the Illini had no use for him because we were so deep and he was mediocre. Man, were we wrong. :(

Must have been another board that you were reading:)

of course he was not top 100 so many on this board would immediately discount.

Opinion: Is Michigan State really a blue blood? We think of the Kansas, Duke, Kentucky schools of the world, but I'm starting to believe MSU is certainly one that is up there.

With Izzo it is a top 5 program no if and or buts about it.

He has won developing non 5 stars, and now he has adapted and is killing the recruiting game.

We are all Illinois fans, if your 5 star talent level son gets an offer to come play for Illinois and MSU are you going to send him here where or MSU at this point?

I wouldn't have answered the phone when Izzo called, problem solved.

Let's hope that "Faith" is high on Tilmon's list as that seems like that's Groce's strong point. It certainly worked with LB, MT, and Kipper :thumb:

Still in good shape with Tilmon. Not saying it won't change with more offers, but at this time still in good shape. Need to get a commit so he can join in, it's not cool for the 5* to be first to the party!

Don't we already have a commit in his class?

No, but you'll see kids above 100 ranked 4*

Yes. And that was my point. "Recently", many services started granting 4 star status to kids ranked above 100 in their respective list. Not many kids (guess depends on class), though. But this would NOT have happened 5-10 years ago and before.

No big deal either way. Just clarifying.

Supinie article from O&B. Uses scary word "irrelevance" somewhere in there.

That is one depressing article. A fine exclamation point on sitting courtside for the (once again) loss at NU on Saturday. I can barely type these words, but NU is a stronger program than UI right now. I'm really pulling for Groce to surprise us all, but is it even possible? My heart says yes, my brain says no way.

That group could use a faith healing right about now.

Well not Kipper, he's not injured....yet.

You have to take chances on somewhat less heralded Illinois players. We produce top basketball talent. Like the equivalent of Florida and football players. Maybe even to a greater extent than that. Year in and year out players produce at a high level that people think would barely contribute.
