Here's the Pontiac Cube schedule for today. Both Manual and Simeon are still in the winner's bracket, which means they'll both play twice starting with the semi-finals games at 11 and 12:30. The third place game starts at 3:30 and the championship game at 5.
Curie has looked better than either of them so far. Joliet West is the other final four team remaining.

2 insane semi-final games at Pontiac. Both decided in the last second. Williams scores 32 in Manual's win over Joliet West.

Simeon loses at the buzzer. Manual wins -- Williams with 3 FT with 1 second to go (ended with 37).

Mike beat me to it -- I thought they said Williams had 37... anyway --- he was the dominant player!

And Joe Henricksen just tweeted 38 so -- a lot. And this was by far the best he's looked that I've seen him. Travian Bell on JW looks like a player too.

BallisLife tweeted "Da'Monte Williams career high 37pts 6reb 2asst 2blk 2stl 1poster in Peoria Manual Rams 74-73 OT win in Pontiac semis "

That is a HELL of a stat line.

TC, I can see you are not a blues fan:) but thank you. As a shorty my dad took me to see Dan Issel play at Batavia, Haskell Tyson play at Geneva and Bill Small at West Aurora and I confess to being a prep junkie ever since.
Happy to do my part.
But I'd say there are a number of prep kings on here, yourself included.:thumb:

Here are some highlites I found of DW and P.Manual's semifinal win over Joliet West yesterday. Can't say enough about how much I love this kids' talents and overall upside. He looks just like his Old Man with his body control, length and style of play....practically screams Frank Williams only with a better looking jump shot and more athleticism. Not sure there is a more "must get" for John Groce than this kid (close 2nd and 3rd are Goodwin and Tillmon), especially when he is practically in our back yard. We simply cannot let this kid go somewhere else. If he does then IMO it will sting worse than losing out on other PGs like Ulis, Brunson or Evans. I won't even picture this kid in anything but the O & B!

Only 2 assist? :D Must be a combo guard.
Da'Monte Williams is one of Manual's tallest players so he plays the post alot,he may not be playing much pg other than AAU until he gets to college,so his lack of assist may be a very big misconception at the high school level.I think he'll end up a couple more inches taller then pops tho.

Assists at the high school level vary widely. Who is keeping the stats -- a lot of times it might be JV players and are they paying attention to the play to really record the assist (or do they even know what it means..). Also, if you drive and dish and the guy is fouled and makes both free throws -- no assist. Finally, if you are scoring 1/2 your teams points, not a lot of assists available.

I'm a Manual grad and a big time Illini fan and I would say maybe Indiana as being our biggest competition in landing DW, I read a few post on here and if I can recall i seen a poster say that AJ Guyton wouldn't have much influence in getting DW to Indiana, well let me tell anybody listening, thats flat out wrong,AJ's family and members of DW family are pretty close as well as J Howard and DW's family. If Kansas comes to calling for DW I believe Illinois can hang it up,J Howard knows most of his family very well and has for many years.I know all thee above and live within walking distance of DW and I'm not 100 percent sold that he may want to follow in pops footsteps, the kid already has so much pressure being put on him from his hometown because who his father is.

Da'Monte is actually faster and more athletic than his dad was. He's also taller and has a better shot. Frank was a better all around PG, but Da'Monte can improve over the next couple of years.

Others are right, here, that Da'Monte does not play PG all of the time. Other players like Brooks or Keeton will also bring the ball up the court. There's no shortage of quick, athletic guards at Manual.

A past Manual player, Lawrence Alexander, who ended up at North Dakota State, played the 3 and the 4 throughout High School since he was usually the 2nd tallest player on the court for Manual. This is the main reason why he was not recruited heavily out of High School and had to go the prep school route. He could have played PG at Manual, but he was usually on the court with Guards like Marvin Jordan, Jeff White and Paris Gulley (all ended up playing in D1).

Yeah I remember LA,I think he played the 3 at Manual,I never thought he would end up playing Pg in college Lol. I would say your correct about DW comparisons to pops,he is way quicker and way more athletic than frank and has a smoother jump shot. I've watched Frank play since the 7th grade and watched De'Monte play since the 5th grade and right now he's not as good as Frank was at this stage but has the skills to be better then pops. i think DW will end up a few inches taller before it's all said and done.I'm not to far from where DW live's but I can't find it in me to ask him where he's heavily leaning towards,I've know his uncles for like ever and wouldn't ask them either, that's family business imo.DW starting to prove me wrong tho because me and my buddies that follow Manual basketball were having a debate last week around Christmas saying that De'Monte is living off of Franks success but youngbood the real deal and being considered to be living off of his father's coat tail might not be a bad thing because he's trying to prove everybody wrong.

The 2017 class has a plethora of downstate talent. We need to haul in the talent like we have in the past and land a couple of instate/Chicago and outstate recruits.

Need to have Deron and Dee give Damonte PG lessons.

Losing Williams would be far, far worse than the other pgs you mention. He's a legacy, downstate in our backyard and traditional area of strength, and is not top 25 which are the guys we struggle with. It is an absolute make it break. Hopefully the staff knows that.

Very impressive that Curie was able to win Pontiac Tourney for the 2nd time in three years. They beat Simeon in the Semis and previously unbeaten Manual in the final. DePaul's getting a good one in Devin Gage. Hats off to HOF coach Mike Oliver for pulling off this difficult feat.
Devin Gage won the Williamson trophy for the MVP of the tourney.
