Messy how? Unfortunately, just an average day in the SEC from everything I'm hearing in and around Knoxville. Please enlighten me.
Sadly, this incident really says more about many college athletes in general and less about SEC institutions , as compared to any other conference . Don't fool yourself thinking the B1G, ACC or PAC or ND is any better . They aren't .

Wow, HGH is nothing compared to this accusation. Wonder what made USA Today to drop the story years ago?
ESPN has told their anchors and employees they do not want them reporting or talking about this scandal.

Is Espn trying to hush it up or are they being asked to keep it quiet because its being investigated by authorities?
Perhaps they don't want to discuss it, because they want to stay out of court.
SEC Viewership? Manning hasn't been in the SEC in almost 20 years.I don't think it has anything to do with court. As was already mentioned, ESPN was all over the Penn State allegations from the get-go. This is about protecting their own assets, i.e. SEC viewership.
Now, I'm not saying you are wrong, but without further evidence, I'm going to stick by my comment that ESPN is going to avoid rehashing this....The Times-Union obtained a copy of Naughright's most recent legal action. In it she asks for sanctions against Manning because, according to the motion, Manning violated the settlement by making statements about Naughright to ESPN.
The motion later says that Manning made the remarks "on network television nationally in a documentary entitled ESPN Classic Sports Century: Peyton Manning.
It is unclear exactly what comments Manning allegedly made that spurned Naughright to take her latest legal steps.

Generally speaking, the more academically prestigious the school, the less tolerant they are of such activity.
Ex-Vol Drae Bowles alleges in affidavit that Butch Jones called him a traitor for helping rape victim.

Brian Kelley, Butch Jones and Tim Beckman, all 3 have a common tie. All three have/had similar accusations against them. Not sure its anything but coincidence, but makes you wonder.
The more academically prestigious the school, the more likely that school's fans are to believe they are less tolerant of such activity.
