This would be a good time to play our best and sneak a win across the state line.

I live just south of Madison and attend every basketball and football game that comes to this halfway respectable city. I would absolutely love to see a victory in person - I can't recall the last time Illinois won in Buckyville. Please give me a little bragging rights!

Hopefully this is a bit of a "trap" game for Wisconsin, as we are sandwiched in between MSU and Iowa. However, its hard to see us winning up there, especially since Wiscy has been on a roll (7 game winning streak).

They looked REALLY good winning at Maryland. I wasn't impressed with them in our building honestly and really feel like that was a game we should have won and a missed opportunity. Who knows though? I think we have a huge breakout game coming up where we surprise someone, this could be it.

We have nothing to play for, Wisconsin has everything to play for. If Wisconsin loses to us at home that likely knocks them out of the NCAA tournament.

I am hopeful that the DJW & Morgan recent surge isn't exposed as a terrible competition mirage and I hope we play hard the entire game.

We have everything to play for, starting with respectability.

Tomorrow (Thursday) is the 12th anniversary of an infamous night for Illini hoops, angered people across the country. What happened?

So you know when your season is going bad... For some reason I decided to check on the women's score tonight on fighting Illini.com. They are winning big! However, the site has Purdue beating Wisconsin, not Illinois.

I see no chance in this one. Two teams headed in opposite directions. Our lack of defense will hurt us in this game against a better fundamentals team.

I love to be wrong on my predictions, so go ahead Illini, make it happen!

It all hinges on which Mav shows up. If he can play like he did the last couple games, they have a shot. Also, Groce needs to keep his best 7-8 players on the floor, if he goes past 8 players then he isn't helping this team win games. If they can stay out of foul trouble it shouldn't be a problem playing 8 guys (Tate and Austin, dnp coaches decision) in a rotation.

If Groce does play Tate or Austin, 2 of these 3 (Tate, Austin, Lewis) should never be on the court together. It just grinds the offense to a halt and is a major contributor to the offensive lulls we have seen.

have Tate and Austin ever been in a game at the same time? They always subbed for each other. Tate's and Austin's last four game minutes played

Rutgers- 3- ot Tate 9 Austin 14
Iowa- Tate 10 Austin 4
NW- Tate 3 Austin 4
Rutgers- Tate 3 Austin 9

I think the sub patterns have been ironed out a lot more since DJW has gotten extended tick and Finke's injury.

I thought I have seen them together, but in my post I referenced never having 2 of 3 players on the court together (Tate, Austin, Lewis). Groce should be able to get minutes and a rotation without playing 2 of those 3 together. Their offense grinds to a halt.

I agree, the last 4 games have been better, but he went to subbing 4 for 4 at times as well, which is another head scratcher. I have noticed at times Groce seems to take a player out when he has a good feel for the game and is playing well.

These are all small issues, but when put together they can have a big impact on the game, imo. The flow of the offense, in particular, can suffer.

Our local paper (Denver Post) listed the Illinois-Iowa game as being Iowa at Illinois State. Brutal (especially since that would have been a better game, frankly.)

I feel like the team has lost any confidence in Tate that they had. They didn't even look his way in the NW game which totally stalled our offense. Even if he can't shoot it doesn't mean you don't pass him the ball. He can penetrate the zone better than anyone on the team when we are swinging the ball around, and he can find teammates instead of only passing the ball around to four guys. It was one of several things that could've made up those two points. As a guy who has dislocated his pinky finger 20+ times, I know how tough it is to adjust your game to where you don't have to worry about it on every play. He'll get his confidence back, and I honestly think he plays more than TJL next year.
