I wouldn't bother speculation on this. It's leaked and that's what matters. We don't know if Cubit is childish or not.

It does matter. If this was announced by the university without telling the players, that is a problem. If they did it because they had to respond immediately to a leak, that changes everything.

You cannot seriously be criticizing our kids here. You cannot be serious.

The only people in this entire circus that have kept their head down and done their jobs are the 85 kids in that room right now.

They aren't kids anymore. Life is hard. People get fired by email.

But - and I am only saying that because I care - there's a lot of decaffeinated brands on the market that are just as tasty as the real thing.

You should consider ratcheting it down a few notches. Hyperbole works best in smaller doses.

If Cubit leaked it knowing that it was before Whitman would have a chance to talk to the players, then what are you supposed to do? Obviously Cubit needs to be the first to know.

Thinking it could be kept under wraps for hours would have been naive, but if it was Bill 9AM, Ryan 9:30, Rest of staff 10, players 11 or something?

Quit being so overly dramatic about everything. This is a team. Keep thoughts in house. You act like this is horrible and great pressure. Great pressure is an 18 year old coming under fire in Fallujah or Afghanistan. Is this the right order of information being shared? No, but it isn't something that needs to be put out on Twitter feeds.

Wow. Just wow.

Whitman is a super smart guy. He's got to have a coach in line. I can't imagine he would do this without a replacement. Can't wait to find out who it is. I feel bad for Cubit but I totally agree with this decision.

Players found out via twitter, that's not ideal.
Josh Whitman, you are a former player. You know how wrong this is. You're off to a very bad start. I wish you the best of luck, but the failure to notify the players before this went public was absolutely wrong, wrong, wrong. No excuses.

I'm sure JW woke up this morning and his agenda said:
1. Fire coaches
2. Wait for players to find out on twitter
3. ???
4. Profit.

Had a fleeting moment where I felt badly for Cubit. Then the realization that he is receiving nearly $1,000,000 for simply getting fired. Paying for 3 kids in college right now so my sorrow quickly dissipated. At least this will distract me from an abysmal basketball season.

What's he supposed to do? Tell the players first and hope they don't tell Cubit? Or tell Cubit first and hope he doesn't leak it? I'm sure his intention was to tell the players himself. Not much you can do if Cubit decided to tell people on his way out the door.

Not telling them first is really, really bad.

Probably all happened too quickly:

JW: "Bill, I am ok right now with you, but your son, Ryan, is in no way qualified to be in the position he's in and earn that type of money. He's got to be replaced."

BC: "If he goes, I go"

JW: "Done"

you gotta think he already has someone in mind for the position. Either someone he knows or someone who contacted him after he was hired saying he'd be interested (backroom talks?)
