Bill Cubit and Ryan Cubit fired

Offensive coordinator Ryan Cubit was also relieved of his duties effective immediately. The rest of the assistant coaches will have the opportunity to interview with the new head coach.

Wow. Just unreal. I.... I kind of love Whitman right now.

Wow. I sure do hope it's because he has a home run hire in waiting and not just some unexplainable irreconcilable differences.

Wow. Just wow. Incredible. How do we get a decent coach at this point? Spring football postponed indefinitely.

Looks like Cubit just found out pretty much when we did.... man. This is savage.

I assume there is a plan in place and I hope it comes to light this afternoon at the press conference.

Coaching buyout just keeps piling on. Wonder how many millions this adds up to.

Maybe JW made the decision that the rebuild starts now, not in a year because he feels Cubit showed his hand last year with a 5-7 season and a poorish "hoping for tons of diamonds in the rough" recruiting class.

So the question is, was this all part of the plan from the beginning and Barb Wilson and everyone knew? Or is Whitman just going rogue on day 1 in office?

I can't imagine he is going rogue but I do believe he had a plan and was paying enough attention this last year to know he wants to go in a different direction. Why not start now instead of waste a year ya know?

The only problem is it may be tough to find a coach now...

Whitman has to have an ace in the hole here, doesn't he? He knows how bad the school looked last fall with having no plan in place.

Well Whitman is not afraid to make bold moves! Assume everyone knows that JG was given a vote of confidence today.

So, in other words, it WAS a dagger to the heart of the football program?
