So now that we have Whitman in the bag, have there been any leaks as to the deals, negotiations, and rejections from George or Tiley? I think it'd be interesting to see just how hard we went after them and what we presented to them.

If there aren't any leaks, anybody think there ever will be? Or is all the info getting boxed away and sent to the vault at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

As curious as I am to see what we were or werent willing to offer those two, I do hope that it gets the Lost Ark treatment. Nothing good could come from that information getting out.

Agree 100%. While we may not have got the man we wanted, I think we got the man we NEEDED. If he leads as good a game as he talks, I see lots of success in the Whitman era.

Understand the urge for info related to George and Tiley, but the more urgent need is to get behind JW. We all need to make this happen. Sideline observers may not help the situation - understandably there will be some who are sceptical.

There are not that many opportunities lately to feel good about Illini sports. I think it will take 5-10 years to get there, but I have real hope that this is the hire that turned the corner for us.

Only if all you follow are Basketball and football. :)

Been fun watching the Golf team and former members play all over my TV. Was fun watching the baseball team last year. Tennis just knocked off a national power.

Men's gymnastics and wrestling have had some good years over the last decade too. We need to have Mike Small and Justin Spring give Cubit some requiting tips.

I was critical of Whitman before the hire, I was critical of Whitman after it was announced he would be the guy. Whitman had me coming around during his intro presser... and then he goes and has a day like this.

Decisive action with a plan. Articulate. Demanding success and commanding respect. He still has to actually make the next hire, but I'm pretty much as close to sold as possible.

Well done JW.

He's gonna need a big house cause he apparently has a big pair on him. I love the boldness not caring who he pisses off attitude. He doesn't think program is where it needs to be and he is not gonna let it go another day. We've never had that mentality here

Excellence will never be achieved if it is not demanded and expected by those in charge. This is a new day and I am fully on board with the Whitman regime.

"We had better not hire a D-III athletic director. He won't have the connections or credibility to land a big-name head football coach."

Yeah, this was said a lot.

Don't know if this comment is best here or in the Lovie thread, but

I've never given money to IFund, but I'm going to now. Not so much as to be"important", but enough to say thank you and I care and I approve of what is happening here. I'm with you Josh!
