The Illini!

“I think they are a very dangerous basketball team, a team that could create a lot of problems.”

Who else is making the trip to Indy if Illinois makes it to the weekend?

You've got to think they rested DJW and Jordan vs. Iowa so they had some extra gas in the tank in game 3, right??? Especially since both got 10+ minutes against Purdue in the win earlier in the season.

Looks like another DVR game for me, driving my eldest girl back for Spring Break. I had to DVR the Iowa game...good luck move? I hope so.

I wonder if any of this new enthusiasm is in any way connected to JW's endorsement of JG? Am I reaching?

Haha, no. You have to play each game in a tournament like it's your last. AJ isn't playing because he fouls on defense too much and takes forced shots on offense. Not sure what Groce needs DJW to do to see the court. I thought he was coming along nicely down the stretch.

Yes you are. We've had this enthusiasm all year long, for the most part. The difference is we're executing the game plan better defensively and moving the ball better offensively.

My question was part rhetorical and part joking, but I do think it has to make JG feel a little better, even though he knows next year he has to do well. After all, JW has shown, literally from day one, that if he ain't feelin' it, a change is gonna be made.

However, I will agree with you in the sense that I want to take nothing away from our players, who proved their mettle under difficult circumstances this year.

Agreed 100%.

There has to be at least a small emotional lift from the announcement and from JW's vote of confidence. We've played more down than up all year in large part due to injuries. I think a bigger part of it is the postseason tourney gave a struggling, downtrodden team a second life so to speak and breathed new energy and hope into the guys. You see this happen with some underdog teams every season.

We actually matched up pretty well last time we played them.

Honestly one of the only times this year that I have some excitement. Still have watched every single game but its just been blah watching them. Looking forward to the game tomorrow, and if we can somehow pull off a W tomorrow AND saturday, I will be on my way to Indy. Praying that can happen! Lets all stay positive. #TheLovieEffect

I give Illinois a decent chance of upsetting Purdue. I see, unfortunately, no chance against Indiana.

Go tomorrow if you can!

Not saying there's no chance! I'd be about as shocked as I was at that Assembly Hall upset if it did though.

Purdue is eminently beatable. Use the same defensive strategy as last game and hound Dakota Mathias. 3/4 court pressure. Maintain the offensive movement, and don't be afraid to challenge the twin towers in the paint.
